Stuck in Safe Mode apparently due to the down part of the volume button not functioning.

Anyone have any experience of this please?

Helpful experience preferably.

My old S6 did that eventually. Sounds like it's a physical issue with the button being stuck "in" like you're permanently holding it pressed. So unless you can coax it out, you won't be able to restart in normal mode. Try tweezers, prizing it up with a needle etc.

I did get mine to ease out a bit so I could restart it ok. And then I tried never to turn it off, ever.

Is it a late model that you can't physically open?

Saw one like that for sale for £5 once. I thought 'I can't turn that down'.

In the inside it has those diddy screws for a screwdriver size and shape that doesn't exist.

Although I suppose a specialist will have something to fit.

I didn't really want to be paying more than the phone's worth in repairs if you know what I mean.

I tried giving it a good blast with compressed air but can try tweezers.

But yes, I'd say it's physically stuck in as you say even though it's not obvious when you press it.

It will turn on and off, restart etc but nothing changes.

As it's a rocker-switch, pressing volume-up might help as you're trying to lift the volume-down.

Yeah trying but there's really not enough there to get a proper grip.*

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll put it down, pick it up again in a while and try again, swear a bit and then put it down again etc until I get fed up of it.

The last time I had a phone problem I ended up stamping on it which didn't help much.

* Expects keno type quip.

Could be some pocket fluff has got behind the button. Compressed air would have been my suggestion but maybe some careful scraping with very thin metal wire. Might take a while and a bit of luck. Could try the two together that might dislodge anything stuck in there
