My Swindon supporting mate has just messaged to say we are close to signing Harry McKirdy.

No thanks.

Saw him in an FA cup game last year. You'd rather have Simpson. Not the top quality we need.

Probably saw him in the same game. Risky move in my opinion. Had one good season for Swindon (but so did Simpson) but if you look back at past record- not good at all in terms of goals or assists. I'd sign Simpson before McKirdy (and we don't need to as he is already part of our squad).

Jackson scored goals in the same division, that's why we signed him.

The manager at that time was hopeless tho

The club would have normally dismissed this type of rumour by now……..

But they haven’t.

That is not true. The club do not comment publicly on players they may/may not be interested in signing.

I think you are assuming the club have far more interest in rumours posted on social media platforms than is actually the case.

Show me literally any example of the club dismissing a transfer rumour?

He's still not dismissed the Batistuta rumour either, which means it must be imminent by now.

He makes James Norwood look tame on social media, I think he's as far away from the culture we want to be build at the club as possible.

Can't see anything in this.

No chance this signing will happen. Why on earth would we loan out Piggott and bring in McKirdy? Makes no sense.

The step up from League 2 to League 1 is massive. Anyway, highlights of his first game of the season against Harrogate Town:

Potentially the most dislikeable footballer outside of the big leagues.

I'd imagine he'd become much more likeable if he was scoring goals for you though.

Different type of player to Pig and you tend not to see much of their attack when they get stuffed 3-0. This one is probably better.

Not our usual kind of signing so could be interesting if we do sign him. Clearly a player who wants to make it in the game and very loved by (most) Swindon fans.

ld give this guy a go.From the bench he could just be what we need. lve no problem with his banter. People were quick to judge Norwood over his mistakes. Its almost like we have a whole forum of saints, where in actual fact l dare say there are a lot of hypocrites on here.

No, I'm Wallingford Boy.

Just think he is way below what is required.

We are chasing Hirst, who is the other end of the scale, McKirdy had a good run of games in Lge 2 last season, but is not overrly rated by Swindon fans, I just think thats his level at best and we would be looking at Championship standard targets, not the likes of him.

Plus I don't really see his character fitting in with McK's squad, its not all about what they do ON the pitch.

RIP Sir Bobby

Hadn't heard of him. Looks more like a Norwood than a Hirst or Celna.

He was quite an iconic player in League Two last year. Big on social with an 'abstract' way of posting and a confident swagger.

Turned up to the EFL awards (where he was in team of the season) in a bucket hat and trainers. Certainly has some talent but not sure we need the social media and banter distraction from our focused, professional outfit right now.

Christ if he’s bringing that sort of talent down to Portman Road on the fortnightly, I’m all for him signing.

Cash plus Simpson would be my bet. Mate is a journo albeit more boxing than football but still well connected and no reason to make it up.

Journos don’t always get it right though do they AND also have their favourites
Don’t rely on everything that’s reported matey
