If they’re going to make it with Town shouldn’t they really be knocking on the first team door aged 21?

Hughes has had two bad injuries so is at least year behind where he might be. Looks like he's come back strong so hopefully he'll be catching up this season

Poll: How many points do you think you'll need to get a ticket for Norwich?

I thought that but was told that football is a lot more physical and athletic now and young players tend to make their debuts a bit older.

Hughes is different because of his injuries.

Both Morsy & Aluko went and spoke to Probert/Ashton and said we really should've offered Hughes more than a 6 month deal, that's how much the senior players in the squad rate him.

Worth considering the level we are at today, therefore the level our academy players are at. Our short term priorities changed the minute GC20 financed the new squad build. Young players were always going to be a short term casualty because the bar had been raised in what it took to be considered for the first XI.

I’m good in the knowledge that KMcK knows how to bring academy talent through, it might take a season or 2 to start paying off, ie the selected players to train with first team squad, coaching methods, and more careful selection of post 18s/20s for a pathway that includes a loan or 2. It is better they are getting games somewhere if not at ITFC then being match ready when we need them. If they never make it with us, they will at least have games under their belt which must be better than getting to 23 without game time at professional level to speak of.

And bear in mind that for three years the club has been a mid-table third division side It’s quite difficult to find clubs beneath that very low bar to loans players to.
