So do we pay the £4m that the foxes want for George Hirst? 09:29 - Aug 14 with 8384 viewsle2blue

Would be quite a statement if we did. I think they might well do it.

Yes you were. You had a bid of £1.2m knocked back because accy wouldn't get a replacement in before the transfer window shut. The board turned down the bid and promised the player that they wouldn't stand on his way if another team came in for him at the season close.
Pompey were not sure that Hirst would return and Bishop had also been a target for us.
We went back and although Blackpool looked to have gazumped us with championship football , Bishop still felt he had a better sustained chance in the championship with Pompey. The facilities are great and the club one of the biggest in the league.
Ipswich have held out for Hirst.
So you were in for him but no longer and Pompey got their man anyways

If we wanted him this year, we would have got him.

Paul Cook was said to be a fan, but he wouldn’t work in an Ipswich team now. He’s perfect for a direct team like Cowley likes to play.

Of course we did, hahahaha. We just let you have one of our strikers a few days earlier, knowing a target of ours had turned us down, Hahahahaha. And Accrington failed to contact us when he became available, despite us not getting a striker in, because they didn't want more money, hahahaha. I guess that's how football works in some people's heads.
