Walton - exceptional again 22:48 - Aug 16 with 2903 viewsPlums

Was he hit by something thrown from the crowd in the second half? It certainly looked that way to me and the ref appeared to hand something to a steward.
If he was, not only will that be a hefty fine for Burton but also further kudos to our No 1 for not allowing it to affect him.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Yes, apparently so. Glad it didn't injure or affect him.

Apologies, just seen it in Phil’s report. Idiots!

I heard it was a coin. I'm guessing with the cost of living crisis it was probably only a penny though, so didn't affect Walton's game too badly.

Poor Burton, £500 in lost footballs and a fine to boot. Expensive day at the office.

He's arguably already gained us 4-5 points with his performance tonight and away at Forrest Green. Over the course of the season, he will be invaluable.

My favourite moment was that kick where he faked going short then found Harness in the middle who had dropped into a pocket of space.

Also that scramble where he clearly didn't know who had the ball 2 yards out from the post and he did a little Scooby Doo dance was funny after the event.

The save after about a min was absolutely incredible

Sort of keeper that saves us 12/15 points a season

Reminded me of a Petr Cech performance in that first Mourinho season when they were the nuts but sometimes needed him to win them a game

The one in the second half where it was literally half a metre in front of him was phenomenal. Think he saved it with his leg

I couldn't really see that one, was just waiting for the net to bulge and relieved to see it deflct off someone. But I had such a good view of the one in the 1st minute and can't explain how good a save it was.

if thats Holy, or Hldkydkdy (however his name is spelt) in goal yesterday we are 1-0 down after a min, and then they sit back for 90mins and we struggle to break them down.

changed the games outlook massively.

his footwork too... i'm sure he could play in the prem

At least a top 6 championship side but you are probably right, he may be that good. Has no weaknesses that i can see.

Its mentioned so much but how he collects crosses is so refreshing. Never any worry when a ball comes near him in he box.

Just have to hope (and to be honest expect!) that the club and him can grow together and he can be between the sticks for the next 4-5 years - he needs to settle somewhere and having him here is just a way we know don’t need to worry about that role

i see the likes of him, burns, chaplin, morsy, davis being on the "journey" with us to wherever we might end up....

not to compare, but sort of like norwich done with ruddy, holt, hoolahan etc.

keeping that core of players that you know will make the step up, and then improve with better players joining them

His passing and kicking was ridiculous last night. Just little things like curling the ball out to Leigh so the ball runs into his pass on his left foot. Or picking out a player in the centre circle with an inch perfect lofted pass

If we don't get promoted, I don't see how we can keep him.

Genuinely wouldn't be surprised to see him in an England shirt in the next 5 years.

Tbh I think we're lucky at the end of every transfer window, if he's still here. Likewise Morsy, though Walton's stock is probably higher re age and position.
