… we weren’t good last night with poor or below par performances across the team, bar the wonderful Walton.

We got away with it and grabbed the 3 points with a bit of luck and a bravura goalkeeping display. Rather than winning ugly.

We’ll need to be a lot better across the pitch to win games against those kind of opposition going forward. Our set pieces are becoming comically bad.

Positively you know McKenna will be analysing the performance and will making plans to resolve. Which may include Keogh coming into the team, adjustments to system and pressing for another striker.

Fans seemed to be the star of the night… and hell we’re top of the league. But let’s not play like that again.

We weren't terrific, and we were sloppy in possession at times, and had to call upon a couple of big saves from Walton.

It happens, you aren't going to slick every single game in an incredibly long season, and that type of game won't be the last of the season either.

It's purely about getting in, grabbing 3 points and getting out any means necessary in them types of games.

We failed with that task early in the season last year, notably away at Burton, Cheltenham & Acc. Stanley last year.

Hopefully its a lesson learnt for McKenna and the players..

Any other night.. those two appalling back passes, walton being a little less sharp and some looseness in and around the box mean we lose 2-1.. 3-1

Shrews and Accy going to be very interesting... and Barnsley home game is lining up for a humdinger because they are going to come at us

Shrewsbury will be a bit different I think. Don't think they'll press as high as Burton did. Accrington will be much more similar to Burton.

Barnsley have lost both their away games so far and barely had a shot in either, I think they might be pretty cautious, especially if we're still top of the league.

Wolfie and Edmundson were struggling a little with possession (more-so Edmundson who played numerous strange and panicky passes). They've generally played quite well at the back so hopefully an anomaly.

Donacien is superman.

Evans has upped his game since recovering from injury and perhaps the arrival of Ball has shocked him into life. Morsy is an absolute workhorse.

Harness keeps getting the goals and works hard. I think he's still getting up to speed too.

Walton is one of the best keepers outside the prem... and he's in League 1. Say what you want about Cook, but getting Morsy and Walton to come here was a real coup.

Arsenal went a whole season unbeaten in the league.

Yes, but that doesn't mean that they didn't have below par displays.

A lot of the Cook business was good... Walton, Morsy, Edmundons (when he settles again), Burns, Evans... good players

I think one thing about the Burton game is that opposition managers will watch the vid and simply their players to press and hassle, and press high

What we have to be to counter this is very sharp, we just weren't crisp and clever and dynamic in our passing.. including Morsy... if we get that sharpness we can carve through the high press and really hurt teams trying to disrupt us high up the pitch!

Agree with much of what you said but I felt there was a bravery about what we set out to do (tick) and there were occasions when we were playing angles passes the like we haven’t seen this far with this group (tick); on another day Ladapo scores one (or two) and the high press stops and the game is done (not the case versus Burton, cross).

If the clean sheets turn to hapless goals and lost points Wolf and or Edmundson will be under pressure by Keogh and Burgess. That in itself should help maintain their sharpness.

I I do think we can count ourselves fortunate that Burton didn't score first. By the 60th minute on Saturday Burton had scored 3 times from fewer good openings. Keillor-Dunn scored a hat-trick at the weekend and missed an absolute sitter in our game. They have the ability to take the chances they made, but didn't on the night.

It's not lucky to have a good goalkeeper, but it is lucky, from our perspective, if the opposition don't make the most of their opportunities.

We made the most of our luck though, by gradually getting more control in the game, taking one of the chances that came our way and by managing the game well when we took the lead.

I'm sorry, I just can't agree to that definition of luck. Burton had also not scored a goal in any of their previous games (re:chance taking). I'm afraid we are just the better team talent wise and able to finishone of our chances with a great finish, that doesn't make us lucky. If anything I would say Burton were lucky to catch us in such challenging conditions as that is what seemed to assist in the creation of their two main opportunities.

We allowed them those chances and they missed them, that was lucky for us. This is not some outlandish definition of the word lucky, things that were beyond our control went our way, that's what it is to be lucky!

I think you underplay the chances we created. Even in the first half.

Yep...we struggled with the press in the first half and we were our own worst enemy.

Under KM we aren't going to win ugly...we didn't last night.

In the second half we stretched the play...played further up the pitch and got our reward. We didn't get drawn into the way Burton wanted us to play...KM tweaked and adapted.

That is a game we probably wouldn't have won even 6 months ago.

Not perfect but not as poor as you make out.

The chances we created really weren't that good, especially in the first half.

By the end of the first half, they had an xG of 1.5, ours was 0.25

xG doesn't tell a full story but it's great at demonstrating the quality of chances created.

Who cares? Big picture we have 10 points from 4 games, we've conceded 14 goals in 27 games under McKenna and we are only going to get better. We aren't going to win every game comfortably.

Teams like Posh play more like MK then Burton, we could easily be 2/3 up before they get a sniff if they want an open game.

We will look worse against the park the bus physical anti football teams.

I don't think it's looking worse. I just don't think most understand that there will be times where we will control games and sometimes times when we don't. Doesn't mean it's being worse. Imo

a niche perspective

I'm always extremely sceptical of this idea that it's easier to play against bad football teams than good ones.

Good teams are better at football, that's why they win more games!

We've been in this league for 3 and a bit seasons and never have we taken more points off the top half than the bottom half.

It would make an interesting analysis of how often any team at any level takes more points off top half teams than bottom half ones.

I would expect the very rare occasions it happens would be when a team drops very few points at all and happens to have an off day against a lower side or two or when a team takes very few points at all but happens to get them against a top half side.
