Boxing fans-AJ vs Usyk 12:53 - Aug 19 with 2423 views | TRUE_BLUE123 | I think Usyk will win the fight again on points. But I have been baffled by the amount of people who say "Aj just needs to be more aggressive", as if it is that easy against the P4P best. I think Aj is going to do the opposite. He keeps referring to the 7-5 score card in the last fight saying how if he would've won one more round he would've drew. Now that card was dodgy but thats to be expected. I think Ajs plan is just nick a couple more rounds and hope if its close he gets the decision. Any other predictions ? [Post edited 19 Aug 2022 16:22]

I heard somewhere that Garcia was sold this idea of being head trainer, but thats still going to be Angel Fernandez and Garcia was more brought in for experience and a second look. I imagine that would annoy Garcia considering his experience and accomplishments as a trainer.

If Aj vs Wilder isnt a mega fight, then Boxing is in trouble because there aren't many more commercially bigger fights than that. Genuine question because im interested, what would you consider a mega fight in boxing today ? |
Depends what division you're talking, the next mega fight will be between Spence and Crawford. Heavyweight wise, AJ, Fury will have to get their skates on as time is ticking and some youngsters coming through look the real deal. AJ Fury will be a cash out fight for both.

Dazn PPV is still going No ? Eubank vs Benn. Canelo vs GGG ? This was just AJs last contracted fight with Sky?

Spence vs Crawford is the best fight 100%, hopefully they get that done. But that wont do great Uk numbers, only hardcore fans will watch that at 4am. Crawford leaving Arum should've sped that up but seems as though they are stuck on Purse split (predictable) [Post edited 19 Aug 2022 14:39]

Oh my bad... What are your opinions on Dazn so far? I think the value is great personally had a like a 2 months run Wood/Conlan Martinez/Choc Bam/Cuadras Canelo/Bivol Buatsi/Richards. All for subscription price, but my god they have given Hearn Cash, with the Aj signing as well. Hopefully they can that subscription down without another price rise.

Well living in the US market the biggest fight out here Spence Crawford by a mile but it still for whatever reason can’t get made. Canelo is the biggest star with the US/Mexican fans, his loss recently dented his fame a little but not a lot. On a global stage I think it’s been fragmented recently, the UK is probably fanbase that cares the most about the sport and it’s fighters. Wilder struggles to sell out the Barclays Center if it’s not against a legit superstar. His last fights against Fury were big but not Tyson Bruno big. AJ v Wilder stateside did have major pop in 2019 though, Fury was just starting his comeback at the time both were undefeated and knocking people out left and right Honestly, AJ had a chance to be a big name in the US but it went up in flames in the garden (was there for that). So my point is that would only be a big fight in the UK now. To be a mega fight you need a global audience. I hate these fights in Saudi. A pure money grab for a country that’s trying improve its imagine on the global stage but really hasn’t changed that much.

Very pricey for fights over there isn't it Joe? $70 a fight by all accounts, which is why Hearn went with DAZN as they thought that by offering a subscription service they could generate a lot of subscribers, but as Hearn has realised/already knew, these big fights all need to be PPV to generate the income the fighters demand. It's not as expensive here, but it is creeping up. Saudi is a terrible shout for a match, should've been back at the lane, but just goes to show it's more about the £££ than than the kudos for a lot of these guys.

For me it’s been great over here for $100 a year, I’ve seen many what would be PPV fights in the UK. However, I know they’re struggling massively as a boxing only channel in the US hence their move to PPV now. I’m glad tomorrow part of the sub though. If you’re not a “casual” it’s good value. I’ve got more into boxing since Covid as it was sport that largely continued. I’ve always been into the big fights but watch the second tier a little more now as well.

Yep it is. They’ve basically decided that boxing is small fanbase now so they will charge those that will pay it anyway. Not sure why it’s declined so much post Tyson. I guess no legit heavyweight for a while, the rise in UFC and just younger fans are less interested. I went to Fury Wilder 2 in Vegas, now that was fun. I’d love to see AJ come back here but doubt it will happen. Let’s face it Hearn would sell it to the highest bidder, always. [Post edited 19 Aug 2022 15:16]

i wasnt aware you are out in the states mate. I wont debate that with someone who knows better. Tbh, im not even a massive HW boxing fan. 112-154 is my real passion in boxing. I was meant to be at Choc vs Martinez earlier this year and couldn't make it, was also planning Canelo vs Billy joe and couldn't make it. But seeing the atmosphere that Canelo generates is something I really wanna get to. Spence Crawford is just stuck on money it seems but Coppinger has said its getting closer. I suppose my question is how big are Spence/crawford in the US. My perception has always been that in the States NFL/NBA is where you find the superstars, but Boxing rarely. Floyd was mainstream famous, Mike Tsyon etc etc. Are Crawford/Spence actually mainstream names at all ? [Post edited 19 Aug 2022 15:18]

Boxing fans-AJ vs Usyk on 15:36 - Aug 19 with 733 views | Chrisd | AJ needs to approach it differently and I think he will, he won’t outbox Usyk, but he does need to take it to him more and use his weight on the Ukrainian. I just can’t see a different outcome, I like AJ and he’s done so much for British boxing since turning professional, however Usyk is a quality fighter and is simply too good for him. Usyk with a late stoppage this time.

Still fought the same fight as last time, needed to roll the dice early, was never going to win this fight if it went beyond 7-8 rounds Afterwards was rather embarrassing as well IMO. Wasn’t his moment to be speaking anyway, passion or not someone should have saved him from himself there.

I knew he would fight like that. He wanted to nick a couple more rounds and get a dodgy decision, hes literally been telling us that in all the pressers. That Feldman scorecard was a disgrace, im not sure what Garcia actually added to Aj in camp, that looked nothing like a Garcia fighter.

Bad night all round. I’d like to see come back out here and fight Wilder but feel he’s been exposed now and not the same mentally (since that night in the Garden).

He 100% wants to right the wrongs in the US I think. Give him a couple of easier fights to get his confidence up and get his head right. Wilder is gonna fight Ruiz after Helenius. Lets see if we can get those two out the way and see where AJ is at. Still loads of fights for Aj to be in imo.

Disagree slightly, I thought AJ did give a better performance, but he needed to do what he did in the 9th round much earlier. AJ seems incapable of backing up a first phase of attack. I’d have liked to have seen him go at Usyk again instead of stepping back. There’s little doubt Usyk is a quality operator, but AJ had him in trouble in the 9th, but what a response from the Ukrainian in the 10th? Top class. He then just took it away from AJ in those remaining rounds. Agree about AJ’s behaviour afterwards. You lost, take it on the ‘chin’ and allow Usyk to have his moment. I’m sure AJ feels completely embarrassed about his behaviour in the cold light of day. Emotions or disappointment? That certainly wasn’t acceptable. [Post edited 21 Aug 2022 18:12]
