Ahadme on 11:09 - Sep 14 with 1388 views | LankHenners | The way we ended the game having a lot of space meant I think normally McKenna would have brought Jackson on but, seeing as the game was won, he probably thought it beneficial to get the new signing on, get some minutes as part of the team, he's in form so wanted to give him a chance to keep that momentum going. A different option to Ladapo - not as good running with the ball and had to sort his feet out quite a bit when it came to him (plus a real shame he was slow to come back from an offside position for the one-two with JD towards the end as the latter would have raced away) but clearly knows how to use his body well and showed good strength to get in front of his man at the near post for the chance the 'keeper saved. There'll certainly be games where we'll benefit from having him in the team and, as already mentioned, McKenna's clearly got great ability to improve individuals.

I'd agree that Ladapo is the main man up top at the moment, and may well be all season. Just optimistic that once Ahadme has got some proper minutes under his belt and fully understands the style of play, he will take the chances we put on a plate.

Ahadme on 11:12 - Sep 14 with 1359 views | SamWhiteUK | I've never been someone to write a signing off after a few minutes on the pitch, and I'm sure as hell not going to start with a player who has been signed by the most competent coaching team we've had in recent times. Give it a rest.

I don't think he looked a big step down...I think he looked like a new signing finding his feet tbf. Showed some nice touches, put himself about and effectively got a player sent off because he couldn't handle him. And he's scored 5 times as many goals as Ladapo this season. Not saying he is as good (yet) necessarily but I think 'big step down' is a little harsh imo...

Harsh take IMO. Despite a rather ungainly running gait, he got around the pitch just as well as Ladapo, if not better. Came closer to scoring than Ladapo too. He's also used to playing in front of one man and his dog, comparatively speaking. It's a big adjustment to move from Burton to playing under McKenna at Town.

2 different types of player . Ladapo works his socks off for the team , creating space for others and laying the ball off , just lacks goals for now , but definitely works well in our set up . Ahadme looks like he will hassle defenders and score goals , looks strong . So both will have important parts to play whether starting or coming on as sub , they give us options . | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Ahadme on 09:55 - Sep 14 by SomethingBlue | Give the lad some time please — looks a rough diamond but there is clearly something in him and we've already seen how McKenna can improve individuals. So give the player some respect and perhaps the manager too. |
Who would you say he’s improved or who are the most improved?
Ahadme on 12:10 - Sep 14 with 1108 views | Metal_Hacker | Those who doubt him so cast their minds back to the Burton away game maybe Watching first hand I remember him making it really difficult for both Woolfie and Edm from where I was stood Think he'll only get better given a few more weeks working with McK - pretty sure he'll also be trying too hard as well simply to impress.Once he's fund his feet I honestly think he'll be a great purchase. Not the best looking player in the squad by a stretch but definitely has an awkward ability require in this league Not suggesting he's world beater but I think he'll contribute in different ways this season

Ahadme on 09:57 - Sep 14 by ITFC_RDM | Based on seeing him for all of 25 minutes? In that time, he worked hard, was clever in getting the man sent off & very nearly scored what would have been a decent goal. Ok |
"was clever in getting the man sent off" If only the likes of Muhren and Thijssen could have added that to their game!

Woolfenden is the obvious one. On his way out of the club when McKenna joined, now looks a rolls Royce defender at this level. I'd say Donacien has massively developed too. Appreciate Cook brought him back into the team, but he's improved a lot since then.

Yep, I'd go along with that as well Joe. Just have to hope, in time, that McKenna gets to work with Ahadme and improves him like he has done with most/if not all players in the squad. The good thing is we have goals coming from elsewhere, I'll be very surprised if Harness and Chaplin don't hit double figures now, perhaps even pushing for 15+ each. Love watching those 2 play.

We'll see over time, just looked technically a step down for me - he may be over thinking, adjusting to new team mates, or a million other factors - but just for as things stand if FL were to be injured I'd be worried

Ahadme on 12:29 - Sep 14 with 1050 views | Churchman | Yeah, get rid. He’s had two games to prove his worth and what’s he done? Load of rubbish. Booooo! Only joking. Back on planet earth, the bloke is 21, has played about 25 mins, has been here a couple of weeks and I doubt knows his rear end from his armpit yet. Give him a chance.

No question that it didn't really happen for him last night, seemed like he wasn't relaxed/trying too hard and so his touch and passing wasn't coming off, but you can see a player in there. I'm certain he'll be a decent player for us, but I'm equally certain that we would have wanted a more proven alternative to Ladapo in the window.

Ahadme on 13:44 - Sep 14 with 877 views | Stu_Magoo | He's gangly, ungainly and and bit random. I like it. Seems more the "hustle and bustle" type of striker and there's absolutely going to be games in League One where this is needed imo.

Ahadme on 14:25 - Sep 14 with 807 views | itfcsuth | I like him. I think he has some real qualities that we need in this division. First and foremost, and probably most importantly for me is his attitude and application - a real willing runner and nuisance for opposition defenders. Forced a good save and a red card within his 25 minute cameo. A lot to work with from what I've seen. [Post edited 14 Sep 2022 14:26]
