I would. Its more important not to lose v our promotion rivals, losses are so damaging against them. Especially as we will beat a lot of the lesser sides outside the top 6.
Pompey are unbeaten and have already played the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Peterborough, Plymouth and Barnsley. So a big ask to beat them. We are capable of course.
This thinking that we need to beat top 6 sides is silly, aslong as we don't lose many of them and we continue to beat the lesser sides then I'm happy.

Anything less than a home win on Saturday is unimaginable in my mind. Compare the budgets in spending and wages in the last 3 seasons. Then reflect on the fact we could and probably should have taken Cowley instead of Cook and chose not to.

- If every team in the top six drew with each other they'd all get 10 points (10*1)
- If we won half our games and lost half our games against the top 6 and everyone else drew their games we'd have 15 points ((5*3)+(5*0)) and everyone else would have 11 points ((1*3)+(1*0)+(8*1)).
- If we were trading one win for two losses, that becomes a disadvantage - 10pts ((3*3)+(1*1)+(6*0)). Sure you got 10 points, but you gave your rivals 19 points.
So it is an advantage to to go for wins if your losses don't exceed your wins. I believe that if you play for draws, you are more likely to lose than win. So I would not be happy if we set out to draw. We should be going for it. Just need to be more composed when out of possession when winning against the better teams. |  |

Drew with Plymouth at home
So all they've beaten is Peterborough who aren't really as good this season.
Meanwhile we had to play both Plymouth and sheff wed away. Should of beaten Barnsley at home if the ref wasnt inept (not an excuse).

It’s a little counter-intuitive because ultimately it’s the points that matter, but for the long-term points haul we also need to build confidence and momentum.
So I think at this stage a proper overall performance against a promotion rival would be more important. We’ve not looked the better side over the past couple of games (pretty even really) but we need to show ourselves we can control these games better.
A home game with the players having something to prove *should* be a real opportunity to take a step up. |  |

At this level they are a very good side, as are sheff wed, derby, Bolton posh charlton barnsley. I'd accept draws against any promotion chasing sides. Aslong as we don't lose. Then beat the lower teams home and away.

I think we will be more consistent than all of them against the lesser sides which equals promotion come May. We don't need to win every game.
And btw I'm fairly sure that all those teams would be happy with a draw v Town at their stadiums. Infact I am certain they would.

If we draw it's not the end of the world, but we go into games to win. There's no side at this level that we should fear, especially at home.
