Just a reminder for people who manually submit meter readings, might be an idea to get it logged with your provider today to make sure your usage to date is calculated at pre-October uplift prices.
There's a 20 minute queue to get onto the Shell site when I first tried about 10 mins ago, but they gave a short cut option - queue can be circumvented by going to any email of theirs from within the last 30 days that asked you to submit a reading, & going in via that link. I did so, straight in, done & dusted in 30 secs. ðŸ‘
Unless you’ve had past estimates that are higher than your current readings, which mean you’ll have cheaper energy already in the bank as it were. But if your usage is higher than previous estimates, you definitely want to read those meters. You don’t want to be paying higher rates for energy already used.
I went out the front, as it were, to where the gas meter is and noticed the frames of my windows were filthy so was shamed into washing those down too. If I hadn't gone round there to read the meter I wouldn't have known. Or probably cared tbf.
Then, as I was by now already armed with a bucket and sponge, I felt obliged to wash off the bird poop dotted over my car which then led to me getting the hosepipe out to rinse the whole thing off. Went to read meter = 2 minutes. Gone for an hour in the cold wind and came in soaked.

Thanks.
Next time I'll risk a higher gas bill.
Look on the bright side. At least you didn’t look over at your neighbour’s car and think ‘hmm, that could do with a bit of of scrub’. We might not have seen you again til a week on Wednesday. It would have been a very clean street though, so their loss.
Thanks for the reminder. Despite having done it last week, it's still 1/4 of a month's increase down the pan if I don't submit today. All done, no issue on the Octopus website.
It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

There's a communal car park here.
A neighbour went away last week to France and where she parks her car I could see a couple of stand out weeds that bothered me so went over to pull them out by hand.
The neighbour opposite parks a few bays down and he was at work so I made a start there too.
Within half hour there was lying around the car park an edger, a spade, a flame weedkiller torch, a bottle of weedkiller and a trowel.
By the time I was done the lot was clean as a whistle. It's not even part of the car park I use, my car is in another section.
Not one person so much as noticed. Not one. They pulled up in their cars and walked across it as though it always looked like that.
