Loved the "everyone gets to be Prime Minister for 15 minutes in this government" and "The lady's not for turning... up" lines.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Did anyone actually see Truss coming and going? Apparently, she looked unwell / sedated, according to Twitter, but is that true?

Out tonight? Too much to hope for?!

Tory party policy is that an elected leader needs to be in post for one year before any leadership challenge can be launched.

She'd need to resign.

It doesn't matter now; it'll matter in 2 years time

whereas in te real world

Those numbers and the questions asked as well, show that far from steadying the ship the country is massively (even more so) in favour of getting rid of Truss - something that will add to the thoughts of Tory MPS that they need to ditch her very soon

They also point to a Tory Party having the lowest support EVER in its centuries long history.

Which would further suggest the Tories are stuck with no chance of calling an election in the near future, and will have to bring in the unwelcome cuts, and probably minor tax rises themselves

But then as you say current polls don't matter

I thought her gait as she walked into various appearances recently was reminiscent of a symptom of a particular condition, but felt it in poor taste to say anything.

Having seen that "sedated" video on this thread, it feels more like I might be right.

Horrible if so, and not something I would wish on my worst enemy.

"pre-planned"

more vacuous newspeak

anything planned, means something that is done before the event - so adding pre is just an attempt to sound hip, as with spike and optic and gaslight etc

I doubt there is anything sinister as with the Nazis and there arbeit macht frei, but this need to change the meaning of words when there is an adequate word in common use suggests there are numpties desperate to sound hip, groovy and with it, Daddio

you dig, err ....man ?

Do you really think Starmer wants power and make all those difficult decisions and alienate his own voters?

Not policy but rules, which can be changed. I think they are avoiding that somas to leave with 'some' dignity.

At the moment the idea seems to be to publicly sideline her as much as possible in the hope she goes

All rather reminiscent of when the Tory party packed the mad woman off to Paris in 1990

A quote from some one there "before we knew she had got out"

Apparently while those in charge were discussing the news of the Tory MPs vote, the mad old bat had gone outside to start ranting about fighting on.

She found out the next morning who was in charge...not her

She's even more right wing than Truss.

I didn't say she wasn't equally/more reprehensible than Truss, just that she's coming across more like the credible face of it.

I'm not suggesting they aren't done. Just that Mordaunt seems a more natural fit to lead the Tories and hold Starmer accountable from the opposite benches.

Parliament is knockabout comedy with scripted gags. William Hague was very good at it. Unfortunately he couldn't do anything else.

That video is speeded up if anything, definitely not allowed down, if you watch the movement on the tie in the background.

I meant more that there is complete impassivity on the lower half of the face throughout that clip.

I'm worried for her.

Do you mean some kind of stroke? ...sorry to be dim if I'm way off.

I too have heard of some unusual behaviour from her, but like Kwarsi, I'm beginning to feel sorry for her. Maybe she'd like to go but isn't being allowed to even? If she goes, surely a GE must follow sooner or later, so she has to stay in this wrecked state.

I may as well be clear. I'm probably out of order, but I'm concerned that she has what look like some fairly classical Parkinson's Disease symptoms.

The way she holds her arms, leans forwards, impassive face.

I feel bad saying it, and I have no right to diagnose someone, but I see an unwell person when I see her on TV.

Sorry if I have caused offence to anyone.

Indeed. She had a couple of good comebacks but most of it was whatabouterry and just attacking Starmer personally. I'd still comfortably give it to Starmer.
