Although no more Life’s a Pitch?? Only just come back ffs. ‘While on Saturdays and Sundays between 10am and 2pm Suffolk will also share a show with Essex, Cambridge, Three Counties Radio, Norfolk and Northants.‘ Poor old Mark Murphy just got that gig on the weekends. Edit: Confirmed… [Post edited 31 Oct 2022 19:46]

There needs to be a bit of fuss made about this. There must be the equivalent of Life's a Pitch across the country. That's the stuff local radio is all about.

The BBC deliberately trying to pee off the supporters it still has or something? Don't exactly read the room do they.

The Tories are truly in with their grubby mitts. The output of the last 7 years should tell you that much. Presumably the thursday Night Sports social too? Really disappointed by this, Life's A Pitch is a great little show that connects to the fans.

Stick a complaint in man. The BBC need to not be alienating its supporters at this time. There's people who want to dismantle it so they think it a good idea to upset its remaining users. It makes no sense. https://www.bbc.co.uk/contact/complaints/make-a-complaint/#/Complaint

What I pay licence for is for the BBC to cover their local teams and provide decent commentary and that is that they do, send a commentary team to cover 4 day County Championship matches across the country, football teams up and down the league get their team's radio coverage free-to-air, our licence fee keep the Brenner and Mick Mills equivalent for their respective teams keep going.

It’s probably a bit late for that. This is probably a result of the licence fee settlement agreed by Osborne in 2015 that resulted in the BBC needing to find £1BN in annual savings. That should have allowed them to increase the licence fee in line with inflation, but then the settlement under Dorries this year has frozen the fee. Worth complaining I suppose as they’ll be making choices based on demand, but they can’t avoid the cuts.

10% inflation has not helped either. But the Daily Mail and the like will be very pleased, not least because it boosts their friends in the commercial sector.

Absolutely, Phil. It's a fantastic show and one I try to listen to every time, whether on the way to a game or otherwise. Indeed, it's something that makes up for Brenner and co no longer being available for those of us who don't live in Suffolk. I don't suppose there would be a way of reviving through another outlet such as a commercial station, Ipswich Community Radio or even the club itself, when things are fully in-house. But perhaps it would just not be commercially viable.

Voices still need to be heard though. If as licence fee payers we feel we're not getting the service we desire we should say so. At least that would be something for someone somewhere to show customers aren't quiet and complacent. We don't make enough noise do we? Why are we so accepting?

It hasn’t, and the govt knew inflation was a problem when the latest deal was struck earlier this year. If the 2015 deal had been fully honoured, the licence fee would be £190 now instead of £150something. That’s £1BN a year less in real terms, so there’s bound to be cuts/changes. They could sack Gary Lineker to save half of it!
