It is a bit sad that we still revel in Germany losing. They have over the years had many superb footballers Franz Beckenbauer, Gerd Muller and of course Jurgen Klinsmann who in his latter years played for Tottenham. It's still nice to put one over them though. But I prefer us to beat Argentina and although Maradona was a great player the "Hand of God" will never be forgotten or forgiven. Let us hope that there are not controversial goals for or against England in this World Cup although I must say I haven't watched much of the World Cup so far.

Even the wonderful second goal in that game was marred by Hoddle being scythed down for Argentina to win possession. England 1 Ref 2.

They also don't really care about us very much. The rivalry is very one sided. I would guess most Germans would say the Dutch are their natural and traditional rivals.
It's like a few of my admirers on here, they may obsess over me, but I rarely think of them at all.

"Imagine being a heterosexual white male in Britain at this moment. How bad is that. Everything you say is racist, everything you say is homophobic. The Woke community have really f****d this country."
I don't really have any problem with Germany, though I enjoyed the upset. I've generally enjoyed watching Germany at tournaments in the last decade or so and I don't have any sense of national rivalry with them. Good lads with great sausages.
Same as laughing at Norwich losing for me. Limited joy tainted by the fact we have spent the last four years playing the likes of pub teams like Fleetwood.
If England were anywhere near as successful as Germany it would be funnier.

Great sausages that you want to put in your mouth and swallow. I know I do, especially the Knackwurst, a great big heaving one thick of girth, made of pure meat.

I have friends/acquaintances out in Bavaria. One of my closest friends works for a German glass making company. I think it’s a fantastic country and I always feel at home there. I admire their creativeness, organisation , ability to get things done, have a German car, a Bosch drill and everything!
But I have to be honest, I enjoyed watching them lose more than I did the argies. No idea why. No logic, I just did. Hilarious. I particularly enjoyed watching the goalie dive out of the way when that bloke crashed in the winner.
I remember Pablo scoring like that once in front of me in Churchmans. Ahhh happy memories Pablo.

Not all of them are great. Trust me, I’ve tried just about all of them. These bad boys top the lot.
I was worried that this link was NSFW, the picture did little to persuade me otherwise but they sound interesting - "not cooked but warmed up", an acquired taste perhaps? I'd give them a go though.

The Bavarian ones we had were sort of lightly boiled.
I quote ‘we serve them in honour of our English guests!’. Out the plates came. Two bad boys, a bagel and a little dish of chutney on each plate. The Germans led the way, slicing each abomination lengthways and scraping out the contents. They looked on at us with smiles as they tucked in with gusto.
What could we do but give it a go? We couldn’t be rude. So we whistled up the beers and cracked on. I got through one and even lashings of chutney and lager couldn’t hide the awfulness. The bagel and napkin hid the other one. My chum ate four of them, god forbid.
They’re actually made in the morning. Pork meat, no seasoning bar a dusting of green herbs (parsley?), and have to be eaten by lunchtime or they go off, so we were told.
