Town very keen to land him from Posh in Jan, so I'm told. Posh need the money big time, struggling to curb mounting debt repayments. Were interested in the summer, but transfer fee would have been too rich. Seems Posh owners getting a little more desperate.

Why not go for a dual bid for Taylor and JCH, I say!

Town have shown a lot of persistence with this one. A LOT. Led to believe the player is keen too.

Playing in front of 26-27k earlier this month will also have whetted his appetite for playing at PR full-time.

but why would be want to leave the delights of Peterborough and the surrounding area ...... oh well errr yes ..

THink I mentioned it elsewhere on the board, but McKenna spent a fair amount of time talking to him after the game; and then Rene Gilmartin spent ages after that talking to him.

Think him and Gilmartin would have crossed paths in Irish U21 setup, but it was really noticeable how much both spoke to him

A transfer window of Luongo, Taylor (who I do think we'll get) and a striker would be very good.

Luongo and Taylor is either/or, surely?

We'd have 6 senior centre midfielders on beefy contracts, plus a highly-rated 19-year-old and the best midfielder in League Two. We play 2 centre midfielders and don't really rotate them.

Not a good use of limited budget, nor of limited squad places and a recipe for pissed off footballers.

Good idea, we need a decent ref at PR. Oops, not that Jack Taylor obviously.

If he only has 6 months left as you say then he either needs to sign a new deal there (highly unlikely) or he is going to be leaving this window. Even if it is 18 months as reported elsewhere, he's an ever depreciating asset they need to cash in on. You'd think we will double his money on a 3/4 deal so from his point of view, he would be pushing for it.

Unless you're going to loan Humphreys to get game time elsewhere, which is not impossible. A half season starting in league 1 or 2 would be great experience and you could sell that to the player now as he's proven himself good enough and part of our plans.

I don't read too much into the 6 CM's:
Morsy (no cover since Ball injury)
Evans (deputised well by Humphreys)
Ball (out for season, do you keep him if we're promoted? 50/50 squad player)
Camara (out indefinitely it seems, can be used more advanced)
*Harper (good as gone)
*El Miz (will probably be looked at over the summer and loaned into League 1 unless a buyer comes in)

*assuming you were counting these two in your 6.

FWIW I think Luongo would be absolutely class signing as cover for Morsy & Evans on a short term deal. What I would say is that between Evans (inj.), Luongo (inj.), Morsy (susp.) there's still a strong chance you'll be missing 2/3 some for a stretch of games over a season.

Selling players won't fill his coughers on his way out, selling the club will do that

Can't see Macanthony being the kind of guy to stiff his club on the way out by selling one it's best players to a promotion rival

Would they sneeze at it thouff?

The 6 I meant was Morsy, Evans, Ball, Camara, Luongo and Taylor.

Think Camara's injury troubles make it a bit more likely that we decide to add 2 centre midfielders, but we'd still be creating a big issue in the medium term.

Three senior players per position is too much and any money you spend over-covering one position is money you can't spend somewhere else.

Ball and Camera sound unlikely to return this season, Humphries has been decent but I think we have dropped off somewhat without Evans.

So Morsy, Evans, Humphries, Luongo and Taylor seems a bit much but I would rather this than be short in the run in.

The only Muff in Town.

I don’t see it being an issue. I suspect Luongo will be seen as a short term experienced option for our run in, and another character around the place.

Taylor will be seen as a player to make an impact now (of course), but an investment long term ala Leif Davis where if he really kicks on we could be looking at making good money on him later down the line.

Must be true, the Peterborough telegraph who are a mouth piece for Barry fry and talking up any kind of remotely half truth, remour from the local postman or lie to just inflate a value and would jump all over this, have not mentioned it so I think know it's true and probably go through at some point. The silence is defeating.
