Luongo would seem an ideal signing on 14:13 - Dec 21 by Illinoisblue
Luongo and Wickham return to take us up. Pure banter scripting.
I think both would add some invaluable experience. For Wickham, this must be the first time in ages his body has been able to sustain a prolonged period of playing without breaking down. With service, I think he'd be lethal at this level. Both players have a sell by date, but more than meet our needs until the end of the season. Someone like Wickham would also be an upgrade on Ahadme, allowing him to go out on loan.

In a new weekly series for Town TV, Roy sits down to chat with all of Town’s banter era managers to discuss who was the worst.
Impressively, the case for the Famous One being the worst is no longer as clear-cut as it was. He's now tied in joint second with Hurst, after Lambert. Paul Jewell looks reasonably competent by comparison to those 3.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Luongo has Championship experience so could be a good signing if he will accept a short deal to the end of the season. Then if he looks good and we get promoted, we could potentially offer him a longer deal.
My only concern is that he’s not a ‘wow, Ipswich are really serious about promotion’ type transfer and we could do far better.
Well seeing as Jude Bellingham is probably out of our reach now, Luongo will have to suffice I suppose.
Superb signing if fit and can stay fit. The fact he hasn’t played since May is a slight concern, but assume that is why he’s training with us to prove his fitness.

Would be about as good as we can expect realistically. Known by McKenna you'd assume, experienced and ideal to partner anyone we have fit.
If I was being mega picky I'd like a more physical/defensive midfielder to offset Humphreys a bit but I don't think McKenna really stresses that. Ball is the closest to that and he's hardly Pazelle's "African Anchorman" wet dream is he?
At Sheffield Wednesday he played the more defensive role in a 3 with Bannan and Byers. He's combative but also comfortable in possession. As you say, could partner anyone we have fit either in a 2 or a 3. Seems a great option as long as he's relatively fit.

Absolutely ideal signing really.
First order of business is restoring our squad strength to pre-season levels, which means replacing Dom Ball and Tyreece John-Jules. If we're getting Luongo that happens on January 1st and after a couple of weeks of training with us.
He's played nearly 200 games in the Championship and was the standout player in a midfield that bossed us at Hillsborough last season, he's plenty good enough. As an added bonus, he makes a lot of tackles and wins a lot of aerial balls.
As a point of order that wasn't really our midfield last season.

He did but "more defensive" compared to those two doesn't make him Cole Skuse either! I doubt he has the legs for box to box like he used to if injuries have taken their toll, but someone who can recycle possession and has a bit of nous is most welcome.
I'm absolutely gobsmacked about us having a chance of signing him. Thought a Championship side would be sniffing around, but then the same could be said about Morsy. As long as he has no injury concern and has kept his form, we will hopefully sign him on 1st January.
There is little not to like with this on paper. His lack of game time in the first half of season can be seen two ways, he has presumably had to maintain high fitness to be ready if needed, but he might take a bit of time to be really match sharp. I see he’s only played about 60 games over the last 3.5 seasons, staying fit would be the only concern, we don’t need many games out of him only sharing minutes with Morsey Evo Humphries plus if Pan Cam can contribute anything it would be a good addition.
