As we go into new year and January transfer window , I am not a believer in the theory that our promotion hopes rest upon who we manage to recruit in an over inflated transfer market. In my opinion it relies more squarely with the players we already have staying fit and available. If we manage to do that , I think we have the best possible chance of automatic promotion and only an extraordinary run of form from our two main rivals will prevent us from being a championship club next season.

As Ashton said “I don’t want to leave any stone unturned or leave anything on the table. I don’t want to be looking back at the end of the season thinking ‘if only, if only, I wish’.”
I think this pretty much sums up how I feel. We must strengthen in Jan and also hope that our key players stay fit and avoid bans.
I think we need to think of this January transfer window as part of an ever evolving process of the squad. Let’s not just think what do we need to get ourselves promoted but what do we need to take the next steps on the championship. For that reason let’s get some good quality forwards in that will take us up and also compete well in the next tier.
