I find him hugely patronising to be honest, he does my head in.

It is this that you are referring to. https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/james-o-brien-and-the-carl-beech-witch-hunt/ It is nothing to do with his politics, but I think O'Brien is an arrogant know-all. The following quote from the article perfectly sums him up. "I am not a huge fan of talk radio and am particularly not a fan of shows where the presenter invites people to call in only for him to then berate them for not agreeing with him."

Anyone see that Tate/Greta Thunberg tweet yesterday? on 10:37 - Dec 30 by chicoazul | No no no I’m sorry this is totally wrong. The whole reason for eg Trump got elected or Tate makes kids of money is precisely because of the exposed to ridicule policy you espouse. When will clever people learn not everyone thinks like them? Edit; kids? Loads! [Post edited 30 Dec 2022 10:39]

I think that's right. The right have known for a long time that a lot of people vote on emotion (eg cutting taxes, Brexit, immigrationn) and tap into this. For such people, trying to counter their views with rational arguments is unlikely to cut through, and certainly ridicule and calling them thick just won't work.

I am quite sure she wasn't. Their law enforcement knew where he lives and will have had plenty of ways of knowing when he was there. It was simply coincidental timing that they have got their evidence together, I am sure.

Of course she wasn't, they'd have had everything they needed to go and get him and it was a coincidence that the Greta thing happened the day or so before.

Yes, made clear by the article author (Ben Dreyfuss') comment - "Andrew Tate owns a house in Romania. (It was searched earlier this year as part of a related investigation into sex trafficking.) Like other countries in the world, I imagine the Romanian police know how to check credit card purchases and flight records and train passenger manifests and they probably knew when Tate was in Romania But it does say that they also did use social media in some ways to confirm his location. The Twitter account suggests that necessarily means they used the pizza box in the video to locate him. But he’s a prolific poster to social media. Just a few days ago he tweeted a video of….Romania. " (there follows 2 photos of Tate in Romania, incl. one he labelled "Me and my castle"! dated 27th Dec).

A mate of mine has fought on the same show as him and had him commentate on his fights previously. Given how niche kickboxing is, it is quite funny how so many think his calibre is way higher than it is too. More worryingly is how many lads I teach try and bring him up in lessons over the past 18 months. I thought he was just a bit of bellend spouting nonsense, but this week has shown how toxic he really is. Shows the generational disconnect with figures like these.

He’s hugely popular with teenage boys. Has a vice like grip on so many of them.

That’s the problem with social media It gives someone who is morally bankrupt a huge audience And if produced well and given a false credibility it can suck impressionable people in It’s why so many conspiracy theories and weird narratives are gaining such popularity His ‘regaining masculine’ bollox is attractive to young men, yet it’s hugely toxic and dangerous

Having just heard a whole chunk about him on BBCR4 6pm news, I don't think he gives a toss what decent people think tbh. He's apparently said that he just wants to be the most famous person on the planet, he doesn't care why, or how he achieves that, and to that end he's recruited people on SM specifically to violently disagree with him, just to get the algorithms working to create his 'TwitterStorms', which backs up Chico's point. The danger, as Mullet's said, is that he's been developing a cult following amongst some impressionable people - reminds me of Trump. Dog sh1t's good honest stuff compared with both of them. Hope he's found guilty & sent down without internet access, which would probably for him be the worst punishment - aside from his treatment by other prisoners. [Post edited 30 Dec 2022 18:54]

Exactly, by talking about them they control the scope of discourse. In turn this means no action and accountability on actual issues.

It's people like him who make me think the benefits of the internet/social media (eg TWTD) are far outweighed by the downsides. Without social media he would be a complete non-entity. Instead, he has a platform to promote misogyny amongst impressionable males, something which is particularly sad at a time when there are government TV adverts trying to change male attitudes to women. Sadly, I doubt he will be silenced, even if he is jailed, because he will no doubt have acolytes to keep his social media output going. I might add that things were much better, and more innocent, when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s because we just weren't bombarded with all the things that young people are now, which in my view has led to much greater anxiety among young people than my day. I don't know about "far-outweighed" - you could be right, but at the same time there are tens of millions of older/disabled/sick people all over the world who depend on the internet for food, other shopping, banking services etc. It's also, as we've seen, enabled a reduction of carbon footprints as more people work from home. Protests against social injustice are also enabled via social media, particularly where govts. have censored msm & clamped down on street demonstrations. Would be interested to hear Sir Tim Berners-Lee take on it now. I know he's given lectures on the issue in the past.
