Who do you get your TV and broadband through? 20:17 - Feb 2 with 1679 viewsDubtractor

We're with Virgin, which isn't cheap but is a good service and all that, but just had an e-mail with an absolute p1ss take price increase from April (RPI + 3.9%!), so think we'll be shopping around.

Any recommendations? Any to avoid like the plague.

BT, but I’d swap immediately if I could get the quality of connections you can get through Virgin’s cable. I was with Virgin in my last house and had no issues in 7 years. In our current place we’ve had nothing but hassle (crackling phone line, regular broadband dropouts, etc) through Open Reach’s wires whatever the provider. I reckon we have to lodge a complaint and get an engineer out every 3 months. Virgin is streets ahead on infrastructure imo.

It is pricey though. Someone at national level should come up with an idea for free or cheap broadband to turbo charge homes, businesses, etc.

Give Virgin a ring. I did when my bills had crept up a fair bit. Without much discussion, the bloke offered me a new deal at a much reduced rate.

He also said a landline/TV/broadband deal was much cheaper than just having two of those. So I kept the landline, even tho it is completely redundant.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Went back to Sky a couple of years ago after two years with BT (Hated the TV) and Virgin (Fastest internet I've ever had but only in the lounge, and their boosters were crap for the bedrooms).

Surprised to hear this as our Virgin internet is equally fast in all our rooms.

We're just with Plusnet for broadband and then have a Roku for TV. I was with Virgin but found they were poor value, and unwilling to offer decent deals, unless you took their most all singing, all dancing package which he really had hundreds of channels I had no interest in watching. I have NowTV for sport and entertainment on the Roku, plus Netflix, then just free apps. Works out reasonably cheap.

Speaking of Netflix, when dud that suddenly become £15.99 a month? The Mrs questioned the DD yesterday. I thought it was a fiver.

She’s moaning because we are about two hundred quid a month for TV with Sky, Apple, Netflix, Paramount, BritBox, Amazon, Disney+.

The annoying thing is that we don’t watch a lot from these streaming services but there will be a show we watch on each of them, and that’s about it.

Can’t wait for the kids to leave home.

You must have some sort of premium Netflix, mine is £10.99. They do advertise packages from a fiver but I imagine the cheapest deal comes with all sorts of restrictions.

See if you can do a deal with Sky. My contract was up last year, as a sweetener they offered me premium Netflix but through them. Went down from £15.99 to £5.99 a month with them.

I just checked and it’s because we can watch Netflix on 4 devices at the same time. At the moment I have three of my 4 kids living at home. That’s the killer.

I may try that. Think my contract finished in December and I just carried on paying month to month. Seem to remember seeing an email saying it was coming to an end.

Plus the most premium Netflix package includes 4K which some of the lower tiers don't.
