Indeed, Felixstowe banned a load of kids lately for this reason.

Really! I moved there fairly recently and thought of going along if I'm off and town are away.

Blaming it on a few months of lockdown isn’t right, IMO, these lads just want to copy their elders, they want to be involved in it.

And when something big happens it’s a wake up call, and majority slowly fade into the background and see the wrongs they were doing.

The impression I get of the young Ipswich fans giving it large on the way to the station is that they would run a mile if real trouble broke out.

Of course they would, but they’ve not ‘really’ signed up to really get involved, yet…

4/5 of them might progress to actually having a punch up, then comes the police, bans, newspaper… and that’s when it puts majority off

I think a Blackpool fan has died with a serious head injury after their Burnley match on Saturday. 15 people were involved.

And incredibly he was part of a group that went looking for the trouble.
Aged 56, his family must be absolutely lost for words

Do you have any evidence that he was looking for trouble? I have heard that he definitely wasn't.

For the record, I'm not saying you're wrong.

Looks bad, they are talking about fans using a short spike, as well as 'street dancing'

Personally I blame migrants, them and their brown faces - though some might wonder what would happen to the UK economy if the 'black'* economy dried up.

* Hopefully the use of that word won't set off the paranoid righty wokey cokeys, who are now attacking the Brownies for being 'woke'

Don't you ever give it a rest, You must eat, breathe, and sh1t ultra left-wing crap!

...was a designated away fans pub.

Even the plod advised the away fans to use it.

I won't speculate, but you can draw your own conclusions.

I think most of it is down to life being sh*t for a lot of people - rubbish jobs, no chance of buying a house, recession, country in a state.

It's always the breeding ground for this sort of behaviour - often people with nothing to lose looking for something to keep them going from week to week.

There will always be the core who just enjoy fighting and the presumed buzz from that - but current socio-economic conditions lead to this. Blokes with a bit of disposable income for drugs, travel, new clobber but not enough to buy a house or the like

Good points raised. Life is poor for many people at the moment, but, especially for the young. They are looking for excitement amongst the drudgery and football provides it.

Which is exactly the social subtext of John King's novels. We've gone full circle and guess what, underpinned by Tory deprivation. When will we learn?

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.
Poll: Which recent triallist should we have signed?
