We will finish the season second to Derby in terms of average home attendance, but I haven't been able to find the average away fan attendance for this season.
I saw something a couple of months indicating we were second or third but that was before Milton Keynes, Bolton, Derby, Peterborough and Barnsley away.

From a little bit of work, I make our average attendance 2823.
It was 1759 on 5 Jan.
We then had a few games where we couldn't take many, so Oxford (1491), Cambridge (1485), Bristol (1190)...
Things take off at MKD (6740)
Bolton (2163)
Derby (3145)
Cheltenham (1509)
Peterborough (3756)
Barnsley (5000?)
Not done Derby (2507 to 5 Jan) or SW (2752 to 5 Jan) but looks like it'll be close between us three but SW and Derby both took huge crowds to Barnsley to top theirs back up.

I wonder if our average home attendance would be higher if only home fans are taken into account. I imagine being more centrally based may give Derby a slightly higher average attendance of away fans at their ground, with some of the lowest away crowds of the season being at Portman Road. |  | | |

That's absolutely true, just as it makes it easier for Derby (and probably also Wednesday) to get to away games. | | | |

That's as of January. Derby and Sheff Weds had both been to MK at that point and we hadn't. Not saying we maybe wouldn't still be third but they're are variables to consider when determining what the current figures say.
I suspect our turn out at Barnsley would be over par for what would've originally been expected too. | |

I’m hoping that one of the advantages of promotion is getting bigger allocations and actually being able to get away tickets next year. I suspect that even so, few games will make it to general sale! |  | | |

Based on what is published in the Exeter programme I make it an average of 2149 for the 23 league away games - I was bored and the Pompey article annoyed me! I may have made a mistake and I didn’t double check it. [Post edited 4 May 2023 17:08]

We sold more than this and I've tried to be conservative, choosing away club match report numbers ahead of tickets sold in all available cases. I've not included the beam-backers. Of course we sold out the majority of away fixtures so some fans that travelled will be unaccounted for in these totals (you know who you are).
