Not The Top 20's 1-24s podcasts have been released.

The Blues have been predicted to place high in the table, with in-depth reasoning behind it.

Worth a listen (Top 4 chat starts 1:04:33):

A very interesting listen. I cant see us finishing anywhere near that high personally mainly due to depth.

We already have a few niggly injuries to Broadhead, Walton, Luongo and Clarke. Their replacements of Harness, Hladky, Taylor and Donacien are all capable players but very different to the former. Our lack of quality squad depth right now is my main concern. The fact we are a Luke Woolfenden injury away right now to a partnership of Burgess and Edmundson is also concerning. Needs a big push in last few weeks of the window to make us competitors.

11th place for me.

Very generous though a bit overoptimistic for me!

Reasons to believe we can have a very good season - we have an excellent coach who is very thorough in his preparation and evidently gets the most of the players individually and as a team, the players are very familiar with each other and the methodology, we have goalscorers all over the pitch from a variety of situations, we have a style of football that should suit the division and we can look to Sunderland last season as an example of a team coming up playing a positive style who made a couple of good additions and ended up in the POs (albeit with an unusually low points total).

Reasons to be more cautious - we haven't upgraded the squad too much, only Taylor and Hutchinson (who, don't get me wrong, are good players) are different to a likely starting XI from last season, we're already dealing with some little injuries that may be worse than we hope, the 'back-ups' aren't really of similar quality across the board, the level of the division is a step up and we won't be able to swat teams aside easily every week as we did at the end of last season.

Think the general fanbase opinion is one of optimism, even if it's just from the perspective of being relieved to be out of league one and looking forward to a more competitive division. Personally I think as we are now, 10th would be very good. If we get 2 or 3 quality signings in then maybe we can think about an outside chance for a push at top 6.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

I wish you'd all (the wider football podcast world) stop going on about how good we are. It's getting to our heads. Love your work thanks for doing it.
