I was hauled out of the queue at the stadium of light the other year as a very over zealous drug dog seemed to like my bag.
Police ended up going through everything and I was even told I ought to just save everyone a bit of time and just tell the rozzers where I'd stashed it out who I'd given it to.
Awkward explaining that I'm actually an Uber nerd who'd never had anything stronger than Absinthe, never mind drugs!

Increase in amount of police at football games too? Some of the policing numbers are incredible. There will be several hundred at Ipswich vs Norwich, with helicopters, horses, dogs etc I imagine. All for a game that hasn’t had an ounce of real trouble in decades.
When you break it down there isn’t much trouble at all given the hundreds of thousands of people travelling and going to games every week. I am not convinced that is a result of our wonderful serving officers. | | | |

Both the BBC headline and your title, for the post, are highly misleading.
“Arrests at women's matches, arrests made in England and Wales relating to overseas matches, and arrests for possession of Class A drugs are included in the figures for the first time.

The number of arrests were up by 66, on the previous year, but 301 of those arrests are late to matters not previously counted. |  |

It seems to be because people are being more stupid. I've got no idea why, and of course were' not seeing the level of extreme violence we saw in the last 70s/early 80s. But there does seem to be an epidemic of low level twa**ishness that frequently crosses the line (if only just).
I'm not sure why. There seem to be lots of disenfranchised young men and late middle-aged wannabe hooligans out there at the moment. |  |
