Annoying as I was oddly looking forward to a solo trip up there!

I'd be absolutely amazed if it went ahead, even at this hour - from a fan safety perspective.

I live in Leeds and we're underwater. I might swim to Rotherham if the game goes ahead, otherwise it's a 4:48 and an 11pm rail replacement bus.

Looks like the river is now starting to overflow next to the ground. Another 4 hours [until kick-off] and I reckon it’ll be neigh-on impossible for even the players to get into the stadium.

I think from the public safety angle it'd be madness for it to go ahead.

The River Don is right next to the ground, and is already at a dangerously high level according to two reports I've seen - there's a risk of it bursting its banks even if it stops raining right now, as water continues to accumulate from volumes still upstream of the ground.

Those of you travelling, please stay safe, and remember that discretion is the better part of valour!

Appreciate I am a bit more easily triggered than many when it comes to spectator safety - but is looking reckless in the extreme for the game to go ahead - and not been called off before fans have traveled.

Weather warning states "Fast flowing or deep floodwater is possible, causing danger to life" - god forbid there any there fatalities on the roads tonight / tomorrow morning to/from Suffolk.

Understandably & quite rightly triggered - I wish Sky cared as much about people's safety as some of us fans do

Didn't want to say it, but there's potential for a really serious incident if it goes ahead. I wonder if Rotherham have back-up generators if, eg, there were to be a powercut?

I suspect police & Rotherham Council may intervene - they have emergency services capacity & safety to consider in addition.

Was going to say, surely the police and Health & Safety have a veto? If they say fans/players cannot access the stadium, that's it.

I imagine they'll crack on in denial for another few hours then cancel at the last minute, inconveniencing the largest amount of people possible.

Rotherham Police & Council may not be the most reliable of authorities based on their track records.

Galloway said they couldn't get them out of the yard safely at Mendlesham!

And it’s going to get worse as the water drains from the fields …. A lot of areas in Suffolk are suffering from flooding, now. And we haven’t had the level of rain other areas of the UK have had.

It’s a bloody football game …

I'm not surprised. It's crazy out there, you currently can't get in or out of the villages. Tractors had to go in to get kids out of the school.

GAME IS OFF, according to various RUFC posters.

could be rubbish, but a few seem convinced club have called it off because of surrounding areas

You'd think the club would have announced this officially rather if that's the case. I wouldn't be surprised but probably best not to take the word of some randoms on twitter.

Had just arrived - oh well always a gamble and I had a quiet afternoon. Should have been called off this morning though shouldn’t it.

Fair play to them. I was expecting maximum bantz with it being called off about an hour before kickoff.

All a bit of an inevitable balls up innit. But then the fallout if they’d cancelled early and the weather hadn’t turned up would be much worse.

Bit annoying for you but probably the best for us in terms of giving us the best chance of getting 3 points.

Would have been a hell of a slog tonight.
