Keiran McKenna, our leader, what a record after 99 games 23:09 - Nov 23 with 4751 viewsunstableblue

He’ll make it 100 games in charge at the Hawthorns

Hasn’t it flown by in a blur of just wonderful, progressive, entertaining football

Over that 99 we’ve had 58 wins 27 draws and 14 losses, with a 58.5 win %

Wouldn’t it be great to hit 59 wins on his 100th game.

What games stand out for you during his reign?

I was remembering the Gillingham away game, less than a month in, his 3rd game in. He steadied the ship at home to Sunderland with a draw in first game. Got a 1-0 home win against a strong Wycombe. And I thought down in Kent we started to see what the training was already doing… yes the Gills were poor, but our passing and shape were noticeably better. A 4-0 away win… very happy Town fans in the scaffold stand…

I didn't even expect a draw in that game.

That was a biggest away banker ever

Duncan Fergusons solitary win as their manager.

I had a funny feeling that somethng unexpected was going to happen. Perhaps just wishful thinking.

But I do remember thinking after our game at FGR in early August they hadn't played badly and was not expecting them to lose so many throughout the season.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Kieran.

Stand out games? For me personally Derby away and Barnsley away last season.

Re your last paragraph - a reminder we have plenty of silly and reactionary people in our fanbase. Some of the reaction on here after Bristol Rovers was embarrassing as well.

I sat in the crowd there and a couple behind me kept up a non-stop barrage of grumbling and moaning about the team, how they were all useless, McKenna lost his way, etc. I was praying for us to score, just to silence them.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

I was at Bristol Rovers right next to the group (3 or 4 idiots only) who barracked Morsy

It was ridiculous

Yes we couldn’t break them down, but Barton went full low block and they weren’t a bad team

The same group abused Jackson as he was warming up.

I’d understand this frustration during the end of micks tenure, or at the Valley (just before McKenna) when we were abject … but not last season

Madness

Are we counting Sunderland as his first game? Think he may have been appointed just before but McGreal was still in charge for that game.

There's been so many standout performances but I'm going to limit it to three:

Gillingham away - yes, they were sh!te. But the complete transformation in how we played that day when he'd only been in charge a few weeks was staggering.

Barnsley away - an absolute monster of a performance. We needed to win to give ourselves some breathing space in the auto promotion race, Barnsley were in form and pushing hard. We contained them brilliantly and then picked them to pieces.

Hull home - a more recent one, but easily the best I've seen Town play since the Burley years. We were absolutely superb that night, to a man. Limited a very dangerous side to next to nothing and scored three good goals and could have had more. That was the night I started to believe this was more than just a good start.

Yes I just read Phil’s pre-match story and was reminded Sunderland he watched from the stands

Good to highlight Hull

For me it’s Gills away first season, Bolton/Posh away and Hull this season

With Derby and Barnsley away right up there

Will West Brom away join the list!!??

Our current form (last eleven months or so) is so astounding that I’m surprised we have lost as many as 14 games. Ridiculous really.

Anyway, the Gillingham game sticks in my memory too.

We’ve had more than one manager who didn’t want to try to play that way, and many more than that who couldnt get a team to play that way.

And McKenna comes in, and in a matter of a couple of weeks totally changes us as a side. I think there was a game or two postponed around then allowing him more time on the training field. That must have been so useful. And he did it without making any signings, or huge changes to the starting eleven.

It must have been a wonderful time to be a player at the club then. See this guy come in, buy-in with the rest of the squad to what he’s saying, and see it work on the pitch almost immediately. I’m sure it is good now, but that transformation must have been something to be part of.

Only 9 league losses I believe... on 13:29 - Nov 24 with 656 viewsunstableblue

... which is the real metric, and over 3 seasons (albeit patial)

Many will say that McKenna has been given the funds to build a quality squad, and that the group would eventually gel, and he caught the upturn.

But certainly his training and team set-up is on another level - and critically puts entertainment and attack front and centre - none of the 'I wouldn't even get on the bus if you gave a me a point away' b@llsh!t we had to endure

By Championship standards, we've still spent sod all though. Our recognised best starting 11 cost about £6m (excluding any add ons we've triggered).
