Sky sign a new 4 year deal not good news IMO.

More money in the game to pay impoverished players and agents. Heartwarming news at this time of year.

With a record 215 games shown - that means even fewer 3pm Saturday games. Interestingly there were predictions that Sky would lose the PL rights bidding, and that’s why they’d bolstered their EFL rights.

I guess on the plus side, at least it’s not going to be snapped up by some oil rich state ‘English Premier League sponsored by Saudi Aramco’.

At least 215 premier games 4 a week and from 2025 season will show all the ten games on the last day of the season.

A lot more than 4 a week as the league runs for 10 months and there are also international breaks.

Simplest way to put it, is Sky say every game not at 3pm on a Saturday will be shown live.

I was a bit surprised by this as I thought that the top clubs would go all-out and try to negotiate their own individual TV deals at the expense of the smaller PL clubs.

With so much money at stake, I wouldn’t be surprised if the subject of limiting relegation and promotion crops up quite soon.

Regardless of which division we're in next season, I suspect less than half our matches will be played on a Saturday at 3pm.

The club really need to introduce an online sales platform, so that ST holders can (officially) sell their tickets for individual matches.

The way the PL cash is distributed actually has worked well for the big clubs as it has enabled the lower teams to be reasonably competitive. This has enhanced the attraction of the TV rights, especially in overseas markets.
Eventually, I think the American style closed European super league model will come, but the big clubs messed it up last time by losing their nerve in the face of opposition by a very vocal minority of fans.

I haven't got the data to back this, but I would be gob smacked if a majority of fans think closed European super leagues are a good idea.

Maybe not in England, but elsewhere, armchair supporters would love it.
