I suppose what's happened is that kids / adolescents started to confuse Hollywood films with education at some point, and they've somehow turned it into a belief system.
It's a sad indictment of our education system that so many people clearly lack even a vague understanding of the realities of science and 'how stuff works', but in mitigation the pressures from 'entertainment' and consumer advertising, and the lack of a forward-thinking, social commitment to fund education are obvious. | |
