Improvement works on 10:14 - May 17 with 4049 viewstextbackup I get why they are doing it there, blue action etc. However, if in 1/2/3 years they rebuild the stand, they’ll need to then put it elsewhere whilst cobbold is rebuilt

Because the safety advisory group…. on 10:18 - May 17 with 4009 viewsBloots ….were concerned about the number of fans (Blue Action and away fans) standing in a section that was a steep upper tier. Putting rail seating in there solves that issue immediately.
Improvement works on 10:20 - May 17 with 3972 viewsHungryLikeTheWoolf Ashton was keen to stress that it was only a trial of safe standing, so I guess it makes sense to do it given the away fans are there, plus the A block fans - and when we do knock the Cobbold down I guess our vocal fans may relocate back to the North stand anyway, so they could put safe standing in the North stand then.

I'm sure I saw a report at the start of the season which said Luton had to spend £10m in the preseason to get their stadium to meet Prem rules.

Luton spent loads, they built a whole new stand on one side

Yes, he specifically mentioned the rake (slope) of the area. [Post edited 17 May 10:49]

I always thought that safe standing wasn’t an option because the stewards turned a blind eye to standing in the SBR Lower and Cobbold section A. Like you, not sure why it’s needed.
Improvement works on 13:05 - May 17 with 3422 viewsburnbudgiesburn I'm interested in the new TV gantry. I'm guessing as well as the need for more cameras, the current TV position has the habit of picking up anyone standing up or holding their arms up. Think we'll need to get used to a new TV angle of the Portman Road pitch, playing surface will look a lot bigger I'd assume.

New tv angle will look like this During the covid season the game against Swindon on sky they positioned the main cameras at the front of the upper west stand row a as there was no crowd Makes me shudder looking back at the game. How far we have come VIDEO

Safe standing is pointless and expensive. Normal terracing would be fine in any modern stadium. Bring that back.
