Feel a bit sorry for greaves in all of this 10:22 - Jul 11 with 2270 viewsBondiBlue

Just sitting around waiting for his mate to make his decision. Not training properly (hence why they've gone out to join the squad now i presume).

Why is it a double deal anyway? Why not just two independent deals? I don't see the benefit for hull or us.

How does it work then - if Philigene chooses Vila for example, is the whole deal off. Or do we just get Greaves?

I feel a bit sorry for Philogene, valuing him at £18 million almost seems as if he is the makeweight in a £35 m to £40m deal, is Greaves valued at £17 to £22 million ? Of course, marking Philogene's value down could just be Ashton's way of giving Hull an inducement to send the player our way and reduce the percentage Villa get.

The benefit for Hull is it possibly means they get to keep more of the money. Philogene has a sell on, but obviously Greaves doesn't, so they can tip the transfer fee towards Greaves.

That makes a lot of sense. And would explain why the hull owner wouldn't want him to go to villa if they've under-reported the fee for philogene. Villa have called their bluff. If philogene goes to villa, we'll probably refuse to pay the over-reported fee for greaves and the whole thinga falls apart.

Risky move by hull if true.

Hopefully he's in Philogene's ear right now.

I couldn't spot Greaves in the Turkey training videos from Hull - but I am hoping he isn't there and signs soon!

It's very risky as they could lose Philogene on the cheap and then we may not be so receptive to a higher deal for Greaves on his own. I can see why they did that but the 'matching' deal could screw them over.

Why is it risky for Hull, their risk is neither player being sold.

Hull own the contracts, without the approval of the owner, the players are not going anywhere, hence the reason they traveled to the training camp.

I can't see why Villa are even relevant in any of this. If we've agreed a fee with Hull and Philogene has agreed personal terms then he can sign for us whether Villa are happy with the valuation Ipswich and Hull have agreed or not.

To me, it stinks of Philogene's agent probably trying to shake us down for an extra few quid now Villa have come in and matched the fee.
