Non-football related?

I start, I collect glass plate photographic negatives.
Only rule I make is they must contain people, and must date from before 1920.

Troika Pottery, late 19th century Chinese silver Photograph Frames, Caucasian Rugs, both Christian and Islamic pieces, other stuff too. But I won’t bore anyone with it. My collections are a little on the niche side.

Don’t know whether these are the sort of things you mean, but a few years back l bought some ‘magic lantern’ size slides advertising forthcoming attractions at the cinema. Basically, they’re a miniature version of the movie posters of the day. They were shown on screen while the projectionist changed film reels before the days of multi-reel projectors.
Had hoped to find a way to display them but never got round to that.
Most date from 1920s and 30s and are old British films that l never heard of but some are of more famous films and stars: Greta Garbo, Desert Song, Laurel & Hardy, etc
Detailing this has sort of re-sparked my interest in them. Think l may hunt them out and have a think about what to do with them.
Thanks for indirectly spurring me into some sort of action Cheltenham

Anything WW1. Just this week bought a German gas mask and a couple of weeks ago managed to get hold of something I've wanted for ages. A German stick grenade in excellent condition made in 1916.

Troika...for a company that lasted only about 20 years and is modern in the antiques world, it really does amaze me the prices of some of the pieces. A good investment.

I'm an avid vinyl collector.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

Cookbooks. Mostly from charity shops.

I got Nick Nairn's course books for participants at his cookery school, today, and the equivalent from Richard Bertinet on Pastry, signed for someone who had been on the course. £5.50 for the two, to British Heart Foundation.

I love reading them.

What's that? Do I actually cook from them?

No, not often.

It's all about collecting. I'm waiting for Rogan, Core by Clare Smyth, or, my holy grail, Relae by Puglisi, to turn up in a charity shop near me. I have Restaurant Gordon Ramsay and the Thomas Keller collection on Kindle, bought when they were on very good offers. But if I ever were to see any of them in a charity shop I would find it impossible not to acquire them.

The day I found Historic Heston Blumenthal and A Day at El Bulli within an hour of each other in two different charity shops made me want to do a Detectorists Gold Dance. My pulse quickened, my skin tingled.

My name is ArnoldMoorhen and I am addicted to collecting cookbooks.

I have a collection of cased fish glaring down at me in the man room. And a large collection of ye olde angling books and bird books gathering dust in the same place. Plus several vintage split cane rods I put to good use.

I used to have a large collection of malt whisky and Armagnac - but I’ve drunk most of it.

I have several crates of boxed, unused Le Mans slot cars hiding in the attic too on the off chance they are an investment I’ll probably end up racing the grandkids with them.

Currently I’m collecting French rescue dogs. We now have three.

I do hope you don’t own any by Delia Smith…mostly aimed at Norwich folk anyway so they largely consist of roadkill…with half a bottle of Sherry added for Delia’s own tastes.

I’ve got a large collection of Lladro figurines. Inherited, before there are any smart arsed comments. They’re vile - does any want them? 🤣

Depending on what you've got some are worth quite a few quid. I would look online if you've got a few to find their value.

Twenty years of disappointment, but decided that was enough so I've taken to collecting joy now. Have two years so far, but anticipate a bumper-sized collection with a prize piece or two to match some I had in the dim and distant past.

Folio Society books. Some bought new, but mostly from secondhand bookshops. Some truly beautiful editions. I think I have about 40, but am always looking to expand the collection.

I collect thoughts from Ipswich Town fans. I have hundreds of thousands of them.

Totally worthless.

Started watching a thing on Netflix about people who collected random things.

But sell them on for a fortune!

In my days working for BT there was a bloke who had a telecom museum in his house out at Hadleigh, worth a serious amount of money, old baker light phones etc

Yeah, we’ve had a look and a lot of them are on eBay for about £200, but not shifting. We don’t seem to have any of the super rare ones that go for thousands.

I’ve got my gran’s thimble collection too! There must be over a thousand, all sorts of materials from wood, porcelain, fine china, pewter. They seem quite a thing on EBay. I’ll probably end up donating those as I can’t say I’m that interested in them!

My dad’s stamp collection is the one I hope to spend a bit of time digging into. I’ve got a medium sized removals box full of albums. He was into Iran/Iraq for some reason, so there’s loads from those countries going right back through the Twentieth Century. But lots of other stuff too.
