Championship signings. 19:52 - Jul 23 with 5829 views | FrimleyBlue | I'm really caught with how to feel about some of our business so far. On the positive sides I get they meet the criteria set by KM so its got to be positive. But there is that part of me that was expecting something more from a well backed ownership group than picking from the championship best stats table. As long as it works of course it doesn't matter. But it's quite scary looking at how teams get torn apart in the prem that we re putting together a side that's either gonna shock a few. Or be primed for a championship title charge in 26 with probably the strongest championship team ever put together. I dunno, I'm really on the fence with it I think. I like the sound if clarke. But then I think of the fullbacks he'd be going against and think can he? I dunno. My thoughts on it literally change every day depending if I'm defending our signings to other football fans or if I'm chatting to my son about what I always felt we would need once back in prem. I honestly don't know What are you thoughts?

Championship signings. on 00:04 - Jul 24 with 830 views | davblue | Buying proven premier league players who are a good age is going to be out of our reach atm. Filling our squad with foreign players who haven’t played In the premier league is also extremely risky as is buying Championship players generally without the costs attached. Wouldn’t mind a couple who are 28/29 premier league players but it’s so expensive with wages and fees it’s hard to know what to do. If we do go down, we are going to want to have assets that aren’t on huge wages by premier league standards that we can hopefully sell for a profit. Think our business so far has been solid without being spectacular but I didn’t expect to internationally renowned players and to be honest we haven’t don’t that as a club since the takeover happened.

Championship signings. on 20:03 - Jul 23 by FrimleyBlue | Thats true however some would have picked up some to be squad fillers where as we re signing first teamers. |
No have to improve the team first and foremost. First team players then become squad players this improving the squad.
Championship signings. on 00:10 - Jul 24 with 836 views | Europablue | I think the only way that we can compete is by buying players with a lot of potential and increasing their value by coaching. That strategy may or may not work to keep us up, but it will work to strengthen the club. I don't want us to be reckless and overspend just for the sake of it. I'm glad that we have made some very good signings fairly early and they will have every chance to be up to speed on the first day of the season. It is not a complete job and we will bring in a few more signings. The significance of getting promoted last season was not that we get a shot at staying up of going bust, it was that we now step into the same bracket as Leeds, Leicester, and Southampton and stand a very good chance of staying up and an even better chance of coming straight back up.

Championship signings. on 23:03 - Jul 23 by BlueandTruesince82 | Isn't it about having a mix? I think the players we have signed so far are players that most prem teams, certainly outside the top 6 could look to add to their squad, one could argue that adding 1 or 2 to an established PL squad is different to what we've done but equally every addition so far has had other PL interest. I'd personally like to see a bit of experience added but I'm happy with our business so far. I'd expect 3 or 4 more in yet though. Ultimately we have a player profile that we broadly stick too with the odd outlier to bring something different. Omari, exciting young, bags of talent as we have seen. Johnson, good number of PL games for his age and could have gone to a more established side. Greaves, one of the most highly rated young CBs in the county. Muric, experienced, good age for a keeper, played every game of a promotion campaign and Burnley looked better with him in their side at the end of last season. I feel like if we get 1 or 2 Aluko types, maybe a touch younger but experienced heads in top of what we have now that's a great window |
I think the types of players that we are getting sorted early are of the high potential young players that fit our playing style and are players for the future. Then players like Kiefer Moore who are quite the right fit for our style of play will fill in the gaps as loan players, or after managers have a firm idea of who will be surplus to requirements, the experienced players at some of the higher up clubs will be made available. I think we can't be anything but happy with the way the window has gone so far, with the understanding that we are far from finished and the window is open until the end of August.
Championship signings. on 01:42 - Jul 24 with 763 views | itfctilidie | I understand the concern. The way I am seeing it, is that all the players we are signing are young, come from good academy's and are hopefully desperate to prove they are premier league players, and good ones at that. All the signings have been touted by other Premier League clubs and we have done well to get all of them really. Adding these ambitious talented youngsters to our already determined and close knit bunch can only be a positive. I'd be more concerned if we were buying players who have no prior experience at top clubs, but the players we have got should hopefully all ooze professionalism around the place given their respective histories

Championship signings. on 20:12 - Jul 23 by homer_123 | Sensible signings so far. Improving what we have thus improving the team and significant sell on value. Our business so far is bang inline with our ethos and approach. We are not being silly or stupid. Not sure what you are expecting exactly. No complaints from me. |
No complaints from me either. I think the type of player we are bringing in looks to be spot on, though all transfers carry risk. Bringing in experienced PL players? For me they carry even greater risk - high wages, hunger, desire (invariably on the way down, pension seekers and journeymen). Finding a John Wark or Mowbray type of person is hard; possibly impossible in this day and age. I’d have hated it had the club gone for a Dele Alli type of marquee signing in the hope that a once good player might ‘do a job’- that would have ended our season before it began in my view. I would add that there is a lot of fear around jumping to the PL. Yes, it’s an enormous challenge. One we have earned by being one heck of a team last season that bar Leicester and Leeds ran away from the rest. The key is the word ‘team’ and that means a lot of thought has to have gone into who we bring in fitting in. Are our players good enough? It’s to be proved, but I think so. The three relegated clubs were filled with PL players. Wolves and Fulham, though playing some ressies, are PL clubs. Well in eight games we took 11 equivalent points. Not too shabby. We mostly competed. Ok, I may be over optimistic with this take and I’d like to see another CM, given Luongo and Morsy’s age. But it’s a fantastic place to be and challenge to have. Bring it on.
Championship signings. on 09:07 - Jul 24 with 557 views | RobTheMonk | - Johnson is a shrewd signing. Premier League experience. - Muric was highly thought of at Burnley; fans seemed miffed he wasn't playing instead of Trafford. - Greaves was in the team of the year for the Championship. Looks like a logical step up. - Hutch developed exponentially over last season and looks to have an incredibly high ceiling. - Delap is another who looks like have a high ceiling and this is a logical step up. I do think we could do with a sprinkle of a little premier league experience, but KMc has loads of experience with top managers at this level. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
