...over a number of years, but 3 payments a year for 3 years seems a bit odd and excessive to me.

They'll be getting £1.6m every 4 months for 3 years.....not a lot they can do with that really, other than pay some bills.

That's very good business for a Championship club. You should be able to buy three very good players for 5 million. It's basically a waste of an asset to hold on to a player with that value when the team will be much better with three good players than one great one (for the level).
I hate to spoil things for people hoping for disaster for Norwich. They have been fortunate not to be hit by very bad luck like we did the last time we were relegated from the Premier League, but they have also been run fairly well and done the typical thing that every Championship club that fails to get promoted, and that is sell their best players.
If we followed their example and banked the money and embarrassed ourselves in the Prem for one season. Our future would be secured, but probably to be a club of a similar current standing in the pecking order as Norwich.
It doesn't make sense to me to follow any other strategy than the one we are, because we significantly increase the value of our squad and sell the same players on for about the same or more if relegated or more likely stay up. You do need the right manager for that strategy to work.

She'll finally be able to replace that car that was written off at Portman Road in December. For some reason the insurance didn't come through.

Except they're filling financial holes with anything they get, not buying new players with it.

Prize asset sold on the tick to a club in a country who's economy is a disaster,
after the previous club take their cut hardly enough to pay the bills.
It`s an awful deal......... GOOD

Going to be such an interesting season for them. Such a unknown largely, unknown manager, losing their better players left right and centre, and no parachute payments.

Rowe as a replacement for Summerfield?? LOL again. Rowe is lightyears inferior. Hope Leeds steal him for a song though.

I really hope scum fall apart this season . I don’t think they’re liking their new manager’s approach and finally they don’t have the cloak of PL money to hide behind. Let’s see how they cope in the game with no money!

The OinkUn can't believe the figure quoted, but anti-budgie bias aside it's very noticeable that they always seem to think their players are worth a lot more than they really are. Rowe has intermittent moments of individual impact, but he lacks consistency, defensive and tactical awareness and teamwork. £7-8m seems about right to me, and a team like Leeds who will bully the 2nd tier and can carry a luxury show pony are probably his only viable destination.

I don't know which is more optimistic - the idea they will spend any of the money or that they will finish comfortably mid-table.
