Away Fans in Home seats 22:08 - Aug 7 with 4009 views | Deano69 | Bearing in mind the heightened demand for tickets, what will the stance be in away fans sitting with friends in home seats do you think? It clearly goes on now but can see this increasing in the PL?

Away Fans in Home seats on 22:25 - Aug 7 with 3435 views | itfckenty | I found it happened quite a lot last season, one of the worst was Leeds. I had a moan and they basically said not much could be done. So id imagine it would be the same again.

Why wouldn't they if they are a mate? Or indeed a family member? [Post edited 7 Aug 22:27]

Would be ridiculous & shouldn’t happen. Ipswich tickets for Ipswich fans. Not some glory hunter.

They aren’t Ipswich fans, so of course they can watch, from the away section. Or is that concept too way out there.

Any Ipswich fan wouldn’t want their opposition supporting friend to be sat in the home end… surely that’s just common sense. You’d want every seat going to Ipswich fans to help create an atmosphere?

Can see both sides of the argument on this one. Especially as I'll be sitting in a home end with mates at a few away games this season.
Away Fans in Home seats on 23:19 - Aug 7 with 2943 views | Reus30 | It's a tricky one but home fans should be home fans and away/away. However, I say this knowing that I have already been invited to an away game later this season where I will be seated in the home end/box. Definitely won't be as fun but I'll take any chance I get to see Town. When I was a boy, my mum is a die hard Ipswich fan but my dad was still man utd despite going to Portman pretty much every game during the premiership era. Little bit different but he was always well behaved even when RVN dived in front of my effing face. And when Town were popular in the early 2000s I'd regularly go with pals who supported spurs, utd, Liverpool etc. I think the demand for ticket is just that much higher though. Stewards should ensure that no one is cheering for the opposite team in the home end though.

Away Fans in Home seats on 06:21 - Aug 8 with 2523 views | le2blue | I was sat in the directors box for the Leeds game last season. Leeds support in there with a Leeds scarf on as a guest, she stood up and cheered when they scored..Ashton had her thrown out immediately, much to the delight of everyone else. They pleaded her case as one of their guests, he was having none of it. Imagine it will be the same approach elsewhere in the ground given the demand from home fans.

Not all the Director’s Box is for home fans…. The club have to allocate a certain number of seats to the away directors.

Away Fans in Home seats on 06:44 - Aug 8 with 2373 views | LegendofthePhoenix | I’ve been to away games where they I’ve sat in the home seats. There’s an etiquette: no colours, no cheering when your team score, just stay sat down all match and applaud politely when either team score. Anything more than that and the home fans rightly get very aggressive and the stewards eject you. Would expect nothing different at PR.

Because there are a queue of people that have been to a ton of games last Season that have missed out on tickets We so not want away fans in the home end full stop. They already have 3,000 tickets And will likely outsing us massively next season because they got 3,000 singers all standing together That is the other major flaw in the new home ticket priority. Anyone can buy a membership now to get a chance lf those 5,000 home tickets. So a liverpool fan could not jump the away queue but they can far more easily get a ticket in the home end [Post edited 8 Aug 6:57]

Well a Leeds fan had my season ticket last season as I found I couldn't make it on the morning of the match. Gave my son my ticket so he could take a mate, turned out he was a Leeds fan although we were playing Blackburn.

I’ve sat in the home end at Villa Park with my son and did exactly that. Don’t draw attention to yourself and nobody cares as they’re too busy watching the game. I get the angst over this though given the supply and demand situation. My brother in law is a Liverpool fan who was asking for a ticket. I just said no. The Club could easily withdraw my ticket (there’s bound to be something in the t&cs) and I’m just not prepared to take that risk

I would have no chance of getting to see an away game otherwise.

So each team only has 3,000 fans who are good enough to meet your test for being 'proper' enough? There will be more than 3,000 fans of many away teams at Portman Road who would like to see their team, and I'm sure as hell that there are way more than 3,000 Ipswich fans who would love to see Town at Man City in a couple of weeks. The fans that miss out on those limited away seats are "glory seeking plastic armchair tw@t5" are they? Cos there are a hell of a lot of people on here who will be in that boat. There is of course a diversity of views on whether it's 'OK' to sit in the home area as an away fan. My own view is that anyone who would put up with being surrounded by opposing fans, and not be able to celebrate properly if we did score, is going to such lengths to see us play that of course they are a proper fan, and I can sympathise with anyone in that situation - the same goes for fans of other teams. I never understand why some seem to go out of their away to insult their fellow fans so spitefully, especially when there should be such a feel good factor.

I’m talking glory hunters from Ipswich who ‘support’ the likes of Liverpool, Man U etc.

This season demand will massively outweigh supply, and therefore people should resale their tickets rather than give it to a non Ipswich supporting mate/family member. Away teams already now have 3,000, plus no doubt a chunk more considering there is really no priority system of any worth for home matches, so it is easy for them to buy memberships. So we need as many town fans in as possible.
