Are we ready for Slot's 4-3-3, £420million Liverpool superstars to grace PR? 18:51 - Aug 12 with 1287 viewsunstableblue

Slot was previously playing a 4-2-3-1 formation in Holland, like ourselves under McKenna (albeit we flex our backline numbers). But has been adopting a 4-3-3 in pre-season.

An impressive 4-1 win over Seville on Sunday saw the following team:

Alisson
Trent Quansah Van Dijk Tsimikas
Szoboszlai Gravenbach Mac Allister
Salah Jota Diaz

Some quality goals from Jota, 2 from Diaz (yes I'd forgotten about Diaz too) and their young academy star Nyoni, from the bench.

I trawled the web and added up the actual transfer fees for that starting 11 - £420m, yes Four Hundred and Twenty Million Pounds.

Even more surprising given Trent and Quansah are academy products, and to add some further 'just wow' - later that day a second Liverpool 11 played in a 0-0 with Las Palmas which included Nunez, Endo, Gakpo and Konate (as well as young products such as Bradley, Elliot, Jones.. oh and Robertson)!

No wonder Slot's hasn't brought in any new players - albeit he's in for two major signings.

That's the level people.

I do think Quansah is a weak link and Delap will have some joy.

One thing is for absolute certain the Town fans need to bring their absolute A game - total, rabid, support and intimidation from all stands. There are 15,000 other Town fans who'd like to also be there to sing the boys to a result.

Daunting, exciting... let's go.

I was there Saturday Illy... and whilst a lot to do - all the non-essential things such as the new Sky Studio, new Exec lounges have already been pushed back.

Pitch looks great. New TV gantry is in. Press box still in-flight, but didn't look miles away. Plenty of seats need refitting in the West Stand. Cobbold and North look ready. Sir Alf needs the new top tier electronic signage and a section of seating in the upper.

I guess the critical path thing we can't see is all the cabling and testing of Sky/TNT camera locations and VAR.

Hoping whilst all this is going on we close out 3 new signings before the weekend.. of course August is the actual deadline.. but nice to get some new faces to give us a boost.

But to the point, unless those lucky enough to get seats really crank up the atmosphere, we'll have already pegged our chances back.

The Luton Exemplar on 19:34 - Aug 12 with 1026 viewsunstableblue

Luton played Liverpool in November.. and the atmosphere from the locals was febrile to say the least...

1-1 scoreline.. and Luton carved plenty of other chances. Liverpool were made to feel uncomfortable.

Can we replicate?
