Well, I'm a bit confused and welcome peoples unbiased comments. 10:07 - Aug 18 with 4726 viewsLord_Lucan

I'm a bit pissed off that we didn't get at least a point yesterday, bearing in mind we won't see anything from Man C.

Hooever - I thought we played pretty, pretty, pretty good.

Aside from the expected comments on the Pinkun saying we were lucky not to have lost 9-0, I am a little surprised by a few comments from friends across the globe - along the lines of "You were out of your depth"

What are other peoples views and what comments have you received - if any?

When I saw that team announced, I did let out a bit of a gulp. 7 out of 11 that had played in League One and I was a little pleasantly surprised it was only 0-2 to be honest. It just isn't realistic to have a side that oozes Premier League quality over half a transfer window following two promotions.

To hear we we were the better side over the first 45 was extremely pleasing so fully confident once additions are added, KM can use that international break to properly tackle the biggest league in the world (let's not forget).

I'm confident we'll be ok, but then again I have to be as a Town fan. The casual observers and blinkered types such as salty champ fans and Nodgers will always think we'll get pumped each week and have no place there. Segments of highlights on platforms such as MOTD that are weighted towards the winning side, regardless of context, will also play into this agenda too.

it reminded me why I stopped watching Motd, they only seemed to bother with the 20mins Liverpool were on top.

youd watch that and think we were way out of our depth, which wasnt the case at all.

first half we were excellent not only matched Liverpool but were outplaying them in bits.

2nd half yeah we had the Burns injury and I dont know if we tired or Liverpool just stepped up a gear probably a combo of both, but they could then play through our midfield quite easily and it felt like we were just half a yard short for each ball, which made some of the defending and tackling abit last ditch & panicky because they were just getting the ball into their players all the time and we couldnt get near it.

1st goal not much you can do with that, and I thought we'd just got past the dont conceed again too early bit when the 2nd goes in which I felt we were guilty of ball watching that one.

but thats probably harsh you have to take a step back and think hold on this is Liverpool, thats Mo Salah worth 55million alone, thats 3/4 the value of our whole team, most of whom played in League 1 not very long ago.

we arent in this league to compete with the likes of Liverpool or Man City, so take the positives forward to teams that we need to beat to stay up, we didnt look hopelessly outclassed, I should think the players would take confidence from being able to show they can compete at this level.

Apart from ‘plucky Ipswich’ I have only heard good stuff.

I think we did alright in the first half, but Liverpool in the second half changed gear and that was that.

I reckon we will survive this season.

Around the time Man Utd were being linked with McKenna earlier in the summer I logged into the man utd equivalent of TWTD. I still had the tab open on my phone so I checked their forum at half time and after the game. General vibe from them was surprise ghat we didn’t put 10 men behind the ball like many promoted teams do, that we will be competitive against mid/lower teams but if we play this style against the top 7-8 teams we will be in for a few hidings because of how open our back half is.

At the end of the day a team of top players taking on a promoted team will win probably 7 or 8 times out of 10. And that is what happened. No disgrace, no shame. We acquitted ourselves well. Liverpool were quite passive first half, expecting to weather a storm of adrenalin and enthusiasm of a newly promoted side. Bringing on Konate second half steadied their defence gave TTA more freedom to operate, played more direct and quicker to the front players and got the job done. The gulf in class showed. If it was November and 10 degrees, it could have been a torrid second half, but they seemd happy enough with a stroll in the sun for the rest of the game. If we got a break and got ahead, who knows how it might have played out, but I reckon 2-0 was a fair reflection of the game.

As for the that mob up the road and the Oinkun, yes, they’ll be jubilant at our defeat and their fine draw with Szmodics-less Blackburn. Especially after their ‘lucky not to have lost 9-0’ performance at mighty Oxford last week.

I presume the open top bus is being wrapped for the parade on Monday.

I watched it with an Everton fan and he was quite condescending in the first half. He said we ‘had our tails up’ said we had spirit, momentum, but would not compliment us on actual football quality. Then he said at half time that 45-75 mins was business time. He said after goal 2 Liverpool bossed that period and it was a very comfortable routine win. He said he was worried as most promoted teams are competitive at home when they first come up. I was gutted but found it difficult to argue. We seemed well out of our depth second half, and this is when confidence is sky high. We need to learn quickly or it will be a very difficult, long season.

After yesterday, I'm pretty pretty pretty convinced that we'll stay up.

Absolutely - as long as we can grow to be able to keep the first 45 mins intensity for a lot longer.

I’m totally confident that we will - the players know the level they’ve got to get for now and just in case they needed it, this will be the motivation they needed. These two tough games to start could just as easily work in our favour as they could go against us if they were to knock our confidence.

I’ll take 3-0 on Saturday as long as we go toe to toe with Fulham for 90 mins after that and get a point (at least)

If only that delap pass was slightly more central for hutchinson.. think he would have slotted that home.

That was my thoughts as well.

The first goal was also slightly unfortunate in that Mass and another Town player got in each others' way and let Trent push through the midfield, followed by a bizarre decision by Leif not to track Salah.
