3 games into the season 22:41 - Sep 1 with 5977 viewsgreyhound

I genuinely think we've done ok. Good point to take stock of what's happened around us. Looking at other results seeing Liverpool and man city dispatch teams at will, haaland and salad shining against others and our overall displays give me more than enough confidence were not just here to make up numbers.

In fact there's lots going on around us and lots on show against Fulham to prove that we really have an opportunity to begin to establish ourselves. Mckenna will do wonders with some of these players but I think we have 50 per cent if not more of a squad that now needs nurturing.

As before a bit of hunger and desire will go a long way. Cup comp is knocked on the head and we can focus in on getting a reasonably consistent source of points in the run to Christmas hopefully. Exciting times not seen for so many years.

I have been like this:

Relegation - probable but not definite
Bottom 4 - most likely scenario for me but avoiding relegation, tough season
Bottom 16 - 12 - real chance if lots goes our way, significant progress

I am optimistic we could be in the 16-12 group but it’s such a hard league. I’m taking the one game at a time mantra once more. Look for small builds. Following up home point and good performance with a decent competitive away performance or away point. Grab a home win or two in Sept/Oct time frame and slowly its could look good. We are the fresh team, backing games up will be key this year rather than going weeks without collecting points, but it could happen. Hold your hats.

I thought we’ve seen steady progress over course of 3 games. Players to come back. Squad will be both competitive and we will have good starter/finisher options.

Our start has been inline with my expectations. We need to start winning games like Fulham, and avoid any 'crazy' 5-10 minutes, but that will come as the players gel.

One objective is to do better than them up the road last time they were in the EPL. So far we are, and they started worse than even Everton have this season :-)

You can cook it any way you want. Games against Liverpool and Oil State Sportswashing Project produced score lines that weren’t as bad as they could and perhaps should have been. Fulham mildly disappointing. One point is OK - three would have been better.

Fact is the bottom five already has a look of permanence about it if Forest have improved and Palace suffering from asset stripping. Town may be a bunch of strangers trying to gel - but so are many of the other teams in this overhyped division.

As the season grinds on it’ll be the teams that cope with the relentless treadmill of losses that just about keeps their head above water. With FFP poised to doom Leicester and Everton there is really only one place up for grabs. Personally I think now is as good as it gets as teams see how easy it is to pick Town off. Enjoy.

'As the season grinds on', 'as teams see how easy it is to pick Town off.' Top doom mongering.

Indeed.

I wonder how we’d get on faced with that same challenge?! I would hope we’d do better than be on minus 8 goals after those 2…
