But why was there such an overreaction with the celebrations on Saturday in the away end when the full time whistle went?

It was like we'd won 1-0. I saw arms flying around everywhere and gestures towards the home section to the right. I can't have been the only one who was thinking 'what is going on'.

FWIW, it was a great result, a point on the board that admittedly, I didn't think we would be getting before kick off but we drew the game, not won it.

Agreed, especially when we took the piss out of Norwich for doing the same last season.

You have no benchmark, we haven’t won a game yet, so how do you know we reacted like it was a win?

We reacted like it was one crucial away point against one of the hardest teams in league to get anything from…and in a league where every point counts.

Wait till you see how we react after we get our first 3 points ;)

Phil needs to get some gif links sorted.

Couldnt be bothered to find a 'celebration police' meme / gif.

It was the chants, with 5mins left, ‘you’ve seen the Ipswich now fck off home’

I mean FFS.

Anyway, I gave a decent ‘get in’ and a little fist pump at full time. Watching us draw with a team many levels above us is something I was chuffed with. If we draw at Soton, I probably won’t be as chuffed. If we draw at Arsenal I’ll give a double fist pump.

We’ll be good again... one day

I don’t think that these things are premeditated. Just a collective sigh of relief after a tense back to the walls performance got us a very good point.

I suppose it’s a reminder of both how far behind we got ourselves over the 20 odd years but also a credit to the speed of the progress in last few. Supporters should celebrate all small steps forwards, we would prefer to be celebrating win after to win but let’s start at the beginning. Regular points is progress, minimising losses is progress, hard to beat is progress. Continued points accumulation over next three would be progress. However we have Don’t lose game first and foremost this Saturday.

It seems like only five minutes ago that we were struggling against average L1 teams and going further and further away. In my head, every time we secure a point or even take the lead it’s a ‘can’t believe this is happening’ moment.

Outwardly much calmer.

If after 10-15 games we're celebrating draws against mid-table teams as if it's a win - then that's a bit worrying. Things have yet to settle down and we're working stuff out.

I'll take those draws as a positive and as a platform to build -but we've got to start winning at some point. Think some think all we have to do is beat a fellow bottom side and get the odd draw against a mid-table side to survive. Don't think it works that way. Forest win against Liverpool shows there are plenty of weird results and we can't rely on bottom sides losing and us outstripping them with draws.

You genuinely can’t see the difference between a newly promoted team celebrating a hard earned point at a team who will likely be competing for a place in Europe, and a team one season out of the Premiership celebrating a draw against a team who had just spent four seasons in League One?

Our last away point at this level came in March 2002, a generation ago. Let people celebrate nice things when they happen, why pretend this wasn't anything other than a very good result for us?

(As an aside, the day of our last point away (Newcastle) Brighton played a League One game against Bury in front of 6,000 fans at the Withdean for an accurate view of how much can change in football in 20 years!).

Didn’t seem OTT where I was. Just the requisite recognition of a hard earned point. I wouldn’t put it anywhere close to the way that them lot up the road celebrated at our place (as mentioned by someone else on the thread)

A point away against the 3rd placed side in the league after being battered for most of the game deserves celebrating I think.

You should know, your lot are struggling to pick up 3 points quite badly right now.

Battling backs to the wall performance, when most would've expected us to lose, nervy if you were there. Worthy of a celebration, relief if nothing else.
