Liam Trotter on becoming a referee 18:53 - Sep 26 with 2102 viewsSheffordBlue

It will be interesting to see how the fast track player to ref programme works out. There have been lots of calls to get ex-players doing this but getting the right former players to apply seems to be the key.

Poll: How many points do you think you'll need to get a ticket for Norwich?

Wonder how the authorities will decide which teams they can or cannot officiate.

Yes - it was a very harsh decision to send him off , was it on his home debut? Don't think he played for us again?

When he talks about learning hand signals that referees need to be aware of, does he mean this one?

Not sure if it was his debut, was against Pompey in the cup and was never a red. I even had the TWTD t-shirt!

Against Portsmouth. Most ridiculous decision. We still battered them, David James having one of the best goalkeeping performances I’ve ever seen, he won it for them. Trotter was never the same.

I think Keane blamed him for it all at the time and soon got rid of him after that

Hopefully he'll make it a as good ref, you'd have thought players should have more idea!
Also for him it seems like a decent career path, only a few make it as managers long term and he wasn't high profile enough to be a pundit
