I think people should get off Johnsons back to be honest. 13:22 - Oct 6 with 3156 views | Lord_Lucan | Tuanzebe was bloody terrible when he first played for us............ ..........and it took him some time to even resemble a competent 1st teamer starter. That said, that back pass was criminal.

And for all his experience, it was Phillips who gave the ball away for the first goal. Annoying we played so bad just before the international break as we have two weeks to piss and moans.

I think people should get off Johnsons back to be honest. on 14:50 - Oct 6 with 2766 views | Churchman | I agree Lucan. From what little I’ve seen of Johnson, I’ve not been overly impressed, but he’s hardly played. It’s essentially a scratch team and people take different timescales to settle into a new environment. Piling into players this early seems harsh to me. Collectively and individually we are not good enough at the moment. The key is ‘at the moment’ and ‘collectively’.
I think people should get off Johnsons back to be honest. on 14:52 - Oct 6 with 2755 views | TheBoyBlue | At various points you can point to almost all of the heroes of the last couple of years having a bad game. If McKenna binned players purely on the basis of the odd match or two when they had a mare then we'd basically be left with Sam Morsy.

And even he was so bad in one game that some of our fans chose to shout at him and call him a c unit after the final whistle. Which was nice.

Yep, Johnson hasn’t been very good so far, perhaps Man City aside when I thought he did ok, but it’s a very small number of games so far. The weight of opinion so early is tending towards scapegoat territory. As, Lucan says Tuanzebe took a while to get any run of form going (Leeds away and Maidstone anyone?), Brandon Williams was awful in his first appearance, scored an own goal in his second and then looked really good until the off-field stuff caught up with him. Many, many more examples.

Be fair, McKenna has binned players after they've had decent games.

He was definitely pony.. but he was being played CB , and looks so much better at RB… but also does seem to look far more at ease in the prem.

Johnson will look more comfortable once we are in the Champions League.

I think people should get off Johnsons back to be honest. on 22:33 - Oct 6 with 2154 views | guestlinger | Surely true fans would give new signings time to settle in and time to learn the McKenna system. The criticism of Johnson, particularly some of the wording, has been toxic.

He played CB for Man U and that is his preferred position, so we weren't exactly playing him out of position.

I think people should get off Johnsons back to be honest. on 09:18 - Oct 7 with 1617 views | hype313 | Think the issue is he's essentially a utility player, jack of all trades master of none, which has been his issue throughout his career. He's clearly an exceptional talent, he just needs to cement a position and work hard at it, in time I think he'll be an asset.

I think people should get off Johnsons back to be honest. on 09:26 - Oct 7 with 1585 views | MattinLondon | Agreed - and maybe Johnson is guilty of trying too hard - going back to his former club and trying to prove to them that he should have been given more minutes. They’ll probably analyse the game is detail and tell him how poor his mistakes were. Dust down and play much better against Everton.

and didnt Greaves make a terrible cross goal pass that led to a goal recently ........ Johnson clearly is low on confidence atm, he hasnt hit the road running but the fans getting on his back certainly wont help him move forwards!

Yes Steve, there are many other examples. Muhran, Taricco, are a couple more who took a while to get going. Took Leif a couple of games as well. Football fans not known for their patience though.
