To any fans of Tolkien who has warched Rings of Power. 04:28 - Oct 8 with 3130 views | Mercian | I think it is terrible and an insult to the author. The late Christopher Tolkien who was very protective of his father's work would not have allowed it to go ahead. He had to have his arm twisted to allow The Lord of the Rings trilogy to go ahead because of the changes needed to convert book to screen. Does anyone have any thoughts on it? Visually it’s movie like but the people really slating it, seem more fussy than me. I’m watching GoT from the start again this month as I never watched the last series. Finished house of the dragon which I found fairly up and down. But finding the first 2-3 series of GoT more enjoyable this time. I’d forgot how soap opera it can be at times too

To any fans of Tolkien who has warched Rings of Power. on 13:11 - Oct 8 by J2BLUE | Isn't Bezos a huge LOTR fan? Sounds like it's his personal project. |
he's a huge Game of Thrones fan, his personal project if you like was to create a Game of Thrones for Amazon...its a bit like his space rocket thing, he isnt personally interested in space, he just likes playing with the toys. of course he'd missed out on the actual Game of Thrones, HBO werent letting that or any follow on series loose from their grip, and unless he was going to find someone to create a new fantasy world (although theres tons of fantasy world authors out there they could have adapted from instead but they dont have the name recognition) he was stuck, but the Tolkien estate were trying to get people to buy more of the rights to their things, so Amazon bought the tv rights to LOTR & the Hobbit and can licence other bits on a case by case basis, and these two showrunners pitched the idea to him to do the Rings of Power, which sold him on the idea and here we are with one of the worlds most expensive tv shows, that takes multiple years to film one season of, thats complete rubbish.

To any fans of Tolkien who has warched Rings of Power. on 16:46 - Oct 8 by mutters | Be interested in where you heard that rumour? It was pretty clear from the terms of the Tolkien estate that Amazon has to commit to a minimum of five seasons for them to get the rights to make this. I would be surprised if they break that agreement. Also as much as some moan about it, it is still rated reasonably. Averaging about 7/10 on the sites I looked at. |
when they first started all the PR interviews gave were Amazon have commited to 5 seasons, we ve got 5 seasons, 5 seasons are us etc etc. the most recent kind of post season 2 PR interviews theyve been giving are well were looking at starting season3 prep soon but its up to the bosses/Amazon if they want it or us... normally Amazon make a big thing about renewing seasons before the current one airs,Clarksons farm for instance, it boosts viewing figures apparently if people think its continuing, now you could argue the 5 year thing is already announced, theres nothing more for Amazon to announce about it and yet thats quite a big shift from we're definitely here to do 5 seasons, to well we havent started the next one yet, and someone somewhere in the organisation chart, needs to give us a thumbs up or nothing happens. now Amazon may well still do 5 seasons, but the current showrunners may not, or Amazon could just quietly kill the show, pay off the Tolkien estate and be done with it, as theyve done with some other shows in the past. they arent sentimental about this kind of stuff, and Bezos has got the money to waste either way. but having such a bad show that consumes so much money, whilst delivering nothing in the way of awards or kudos or subscribers, even chunks of critics hate it as much, actually impacts Amazons business long term.
