Tuanzebe's injury 13:38 - Oct 8 with 4179 viewswaveneyblue

Made me think of the time Ian Marshall fell off a stool in the bookies.

Footballs moved on a bit since then

(And not for the better)

On a similar note, Dave Beasant dropped a jar of salad cream on his foot and severed a tendon in his big toe.

A goalkeeper dropping something make this story far better.

Were they not using Bent Lane in the early - mid 90s?

I am not sure about training, but I am sure the youth team used to play there at that time, if not earlier.

EDIT: whilst the records are a bit scant, I did come across this from 1997.

Oops, missed your post when recounting the same story!

As always, though, your journalistic knowledge got the correct injury and my memory was not so accurate. 😬

Geoff Hammond slipped in the sower and put himself out of action for weeks with a damaged heal

As most on here wont remember Ipswich players I think Rio Ferdinand got a long term injury stretching for the TV remote

Just googled it. Santiago Canizares, the Spanish keeper, managed to severe a tendon in his right foot on the eve of the 2002 World Cup after dropping a bottle of aftershave.

The article also mentions Steve Morrow breaking his collarbone celebrating Arsenal's 1993 League Cup win, Ever Banega injuring his ankle after being run over by his own car and Jerome Boateng aggravating a knee complaint in a collision with an airline drinks trolley.

Deary me, how did any of them manage to survive getting out of bed & putting their pants & trousers trousers on?

"About 450 people die annually by falling out of bed, usually from head and neck injuries. Maybe it's time to switch out our seemingly harmless beds for something closer to the ground."

And
https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2000/may/30/healthandwellbeing.health2

"Underpants: Never underestimate how perilous pants can be. "You get changed, you get into bed, you may leave your underpants on the floor," says Eason, and I can almost see the vultures gathering above the scene. "You've got a polished floor, you get up in the morning, and . . . " - crash! The worst kind of brief encounter."

Possibly, I could be wrong on that. Playford Road academy opened in 1998, if I remember rightly, but they may have been using the pitches on the other side before that.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure then Bent Lane side was used prior to 98

I definitely remember the old badge being on a sign at the entrance there
