Said that despite the poor performance, he thought he had seen enough from us to suggest we'd be alright.

I think our top performers so far this season have been our most physical players - Axel, Delap, Morsy, Greaves. I do wonder if we maybe needed to recruit more physically seasoned pros or is it a case of some our younger players getting up the level over a few games? I have high hopes for Cajuste when he gets up to speed as he looks to have all the attributes. It all feels a bit of a culture shock at the moment and hopefully some players will start to shine as things settle down - the likes of Szmodics, Hutchinson and maybe Clarke, who doesn't immediately look a McKenna type despite a few creative flashes.

Onwards and upwards and hopefully Tony Gale is spot-on.

He’s one of the better co commentators. Mentioned about chatting with Mick Mills before the game but then let himself down by saying when he played for West Ham, playing Ipswich was a “local derby”

😂 yeh i laughed at that too but tbh that game would feel like a derby for with the amount of gobby 'ammers that have infiltrated Suffolk.

He seemed to have a soft spot for Town which perhaps influenced his prediction.

On the other hand, whenever i hear Shearer MOTD or that pod with Lineker he seems a right c**t with some bitter undertones against Ipswich. Might be misreading thing but hope we stay just to spite that 🔔end

It’s more of a local derby to me and my family!

I really don’t know of and canary fans!

He might well be bitter at Ipswich, when he was at Blackburn, when they were title challengers, we dumped them out of the FA Cup, 1-0 at Elwood Park with Richard Wright having a blinder. IIRC, Shearer said to RW something like, “you’ll never play that well again”

Didn't he apply for the Ipswich job at the same time Keane did?

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

He also said about that time.”there are no easy games in this league, other than Ipswich at home of course.”

Seem to remember that he did.

When even Marcus Evans laughs at your managerial credentials, best stick to regurgitating researcher’s hand-fed observations whilst giggling next to Micah Richards.

The list of England starlets of the last two or three decades, who have turned out to be utterly inept at managerial level, is quite something.

Off the top of my head, Shearer, Sheringham, Neville, Butcher, Pearce, Lampard, Gerrard, Adams..

Three down….just two more to go..(WhatsApp Group, July 2025)

As a kid growing up in Chelmsford I thought West Ham were our rivals. At junior school we were mostly Ipswich, West Ham and Spurs. I'd never even heard of (lower league) Norwich.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

As a north Essex boy, I would agree and I think it's true for many Town fans who live south of Ipswich. I've always seen West Ham and Spurs as the teams I really want us to beat. I barely ever come across any Norwich fans day to day - wish I could say the same about West Ham and Spurs :)

Where I grew up in Essex, most of the locals are Spurs fans nowadays, but when I was growing up it was a decent enough split, with plenty of West Ham and Ipswich. A local derby might be a stretch, but it's definitely a local game that had a decent edge as we were both largely at a similar level. Gale was before all the Playoff games I think, but there was a time when they were definitely our biggest local game after Norwich for me.

Sort of right. Born and raised in Ipswich there were no scum fans but plenty of West Ham fans, like the Essex based blues have said.

I think that's why Ipswich v scum is unique and more intense, 95% of both fan bases don't mingle.
