I'm guessing because players are human and develop at varying times. There are a huge number of variables involved in whether a player does or doesn't settle and succeed. We seem to have a club set up to reduce the likelihood of those variables being negatively impacted.

Things is, with the buy back and sell on clause that ManCity have, subject to the clause involved, he could effectively here on loan. Works for city as he gets more game time and development than he would at city, and if he performs they can just buy him back at a discounted rate. If they decide not to buy him permanently they can buy him back at a discount and then sell him on immediately at a significant profit. Suspect that one of the main reason he’s here and available to us is because we’ve agreed to the deal structure. We just have to enjoy watching him develop and hopefully he does enough to keep us up.

Depends on the terms I guess. Could be that it is a matching clause like Villa had with Philogene, could be a time specific clause or could be a multitude of other possible terms. I think his start here has probably taken a lot by surprise to be honest. £15m raised a few eyebrows in the summer off the back of never really ripping it up in the Championship. He looks the real deal but as McKenna has pointed out, it's still early days and he still has more to prove.

Doesn’t seem like it was just for us. Think he was OK at Pompey but little more than that, and can’t seem to get himself into the starting XI at Oxford from what little I’ve seen. Very young still though, clearly has something about him as he was incredibly highly thought of a few years ago. Yet to translate it in big boy football though.
