Proposals for new/additional football TV coverage…. 11:19 - Oct 15 with 2308 viewsBloots

….clubs are going to have to allow one of the following:

1. An interview with the coach/assistant coach/player at half time.

2. An interview with a substituted player.

3. A camera in the dressing room.

I’d go for a meaningless cliche ridden interview with an assistant coach at half time.

Ridiculous.

I remember seeing some old footage of us in the UEFA Cup and Sir Bobby was being interviewed just after the start of the second half. He even missed a goal!

Tell them to feck off.

Stop interfering with our game.

I think they should pick a random fan from the crowd anytime there is a contentious decision and get live thoughts on it

Just imagine its 0-0 2 mons before half time and we are denied yet another stonewall penalty and the sky commentary says "on now we go to Mr Bloots for his thoughts ......."

They should ask fans watching from home too.

They did this during the Bournemouth v Southampton game last month - around 87' they chatted to a Bournemouth sub for what felt like a couple of mins while the game was flowing, outrageous it was but nobody I vented to about it cared. ☹️

All a load of shîte and not what the viewing public want.

Hope all the clubs tell them to piss off.

All too prevalent and accepted over here where they catch a football coach on his was back to the “locker room” at half time and it usually goes like this:

Reporter: “tough first half for your team there, coach.”

Coach: “yeah we need to execute plays better and shore up on defense”

Reporter: “thanks Coach”

It’s all so incredibly pointless and dull and banal. Whoever thought of this idea should be launched into the sun.

Sigh.

Only a matter of time before an on field player is mic'd up like in the T20 cricket.

Indeed. terribly american. They will say that the broadcasters pay the money and therefore are entitled. But not one person will watch a game because of these "innovations" who would not already have chosen to watch that game.

They did this for early rounds of the FA Cup a few years ago. Might have been on BT Sport. It's not needed.

Truly impaired.

I remember watching a rugby league match and the BBC had a camera in the changing rooms. Unfortunately for them, they switched to that camera just as one of the players was walking round stark naked. Was quite funny.

Yes. He said something like "I just missed that goal. Thanks Gerry".

I would rather see that than the ITV competitions for untold riches voiced over by Mark Pougach - you just need to pay a fiver to enter.

And are you telling me that you would rather listen to Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon than a mic-ed up player (or ref)?

We don’t get Matterface but are subjected to Dixon…. A really lazy and tiresome pundit on co-comms. Always making some crap joke and offering no analysis

Interviewing players at half time is a common thing in Brazilian football.
My girlfriend used to do it when she worked for Brazilian local TV.

I would deliberately hire a specific half time interview specialist, whose sole job is to provide meaningless and rambling psuedo-analysis when called on.

Something like this:

I would love to hear Pert at halftime giving his analysis. Maybe he can use one of his many languages other than English just for s&g
