We spent roughly £100M in transfer fees (not including top ups) on 10 players this summer and IMO only Greaves, Hutchinson and Delap look like being an asset. i.e. we could command at least the same transfer fee if sold.

Seen nothing to suggest he is a £12M player

Not seen him play, but needed cover for Leif and £500k is peanuts

Much like O'Shea, I've seen nothing to suggest he is worth £8M. This was a panic buy IMO.

£18M well spent

Jury is out for me. Top Championship player, but if he's not good enough for the PL then he's not worth £15M

I know football shouldn't be about a balance sheet, but I guess I still remember when we were relegated in 2002 with player contracts that were liabilities. Although we've got rich owners, we've now got FFP to worry about so can't afford to get too much wrong in the transfer market. |  | | |  |

We rolled the dice on mostly untested talent.
I wouldn't underestimate physicality. Every game we seem to be inferior physically (bar Delap) and it generally looks like we are paying the year above on the school field.
The majority of the below are highly thought of and football is a funny game but I don't really disagree. |  |

For the majority, I think we got it right. Just lack that sprinkle of PL experience. I would have liked a Danny Ings type up front and a Jonny Evans type at the back. |  |

How do you bring in accomplished top level players when other more established clubs are an option for them?
You have to take a gamble on unproven or out of favour players and hope you can coach them up to speed. |  |
