When people say “the game’s gone”…. on 16:19 - Oct 24 with 3116 views | Basuco | There were loads of half and half scarf sellers at the West ham game, ridiculous to walk past 2 or 3 very close to each other.
When people say “the game’s gone”…. on 18:35 - Oct 24 with 2843 views | Churchman | That’s awful. In their club shop? Always thought Charlton a bit B&Q tinpot. There’s no way I’d wear another club’s badge, scarf, shirt or anything else - unless I was arm twisted into it to raise money for something worthwhile. From the discussion the other week, I know that s9me people do sort of collect them and when alss said and done, each to their own.
When people say “the game’s gone”…. on 20:28 - Oct 24 with 2720 views | ArnieM | Maybe if more of the Premier League £ms tom thd greedy PL so called big boys actually filtered down to the lower divisions, clubs like Charlton wouldnt see the need to sell merchandise like this, in an effort to raise much needed income!! I see some of the PL " big boys" are getting twitchy about the posdibility of being forced to making a greater distribution of their obscene wealth to the EFL Clubs. Town might be in the PL atm, but the PL stinks as far as I'm concerned. I can't even say I'm even enjoying the whole " Premier league experience". It's the biggest con going.

When people say “the game’s gone”…. on 20:46 - Oct 24 with 2681 views | MattinLondon | If someone wants a memento of a match - maybe a kids first match or some other personal reason then I don’t see why anyone would have an issue with this. It’s not a new thing, in the late eighties there were kids with half and half hats. [Post edited 24 Oct 2024 20:46]

When people say “the game’s gone”…. on 22:51 - Oct 24 with 2458 views | The_Romford_Blue | I know it’s a bit excessive but I’d honestly introduce a rule that if a club sells half and half scarves for any non monumental game (a champions league final is acceptable for example) as judged by a football audience, the team get a points deduction. And if 20 or more fans are seen to be wearing the scarves at the match, they are shot upon entry to the stadium.

If you want a memento of a game surely buy a programme or the scarf of the team you support. Not some contrived nonsense to celebrate a division 3 game. As I recall the half and half hats in the late 80s, they were not game-specific but more to (weirdly) show allegiance with a big club, esp Celtic or rangers.

yeah but these were just scrotes trying to make a few quid on the street... this is the official club shop selling them. Absolutely astonishing and embarrassing if you're a Charlton fan.

When people say “the game’s gone”…. on 10:04 - Oct 25 with 2005 views | Swansea_Blue | I’m going to start selling three quarter and one quarter scarves, for the more discerning fan who wants to emphasise their support. This time next year I’ll be a millionaire Rodney (unless Starmer’s taken it all in tax)

Jim McDonald chastised Benny Green for wearing one of those in 'The Firm'. 'What have we got to do with Celtic, son?'

If someone started selling a batch of Ipswich / AZ Alkmaar half and half gear with the UEFA Cup final dates, no one would be interested?

Don't worry, pensioners will die of hypothermia this winter so you don't have to pay a bit more tax.

The difference being it was a Cup Final, not a run of the mill Division THREE game.

When people say “the game’s gone”…. on 11:56 - Oct 25 with 1795 views | Benters | Many moons ago I was invited by a Charlton season ticket holder to have Christmas dinner at the stadium with him and three other town supporters. It was most pleasant too. I don’t mind Charlton as it goes had some cracking days out going there.

Yes, and quite different. But from further posts it seemed they have no value or place at all A commemorative half and half scarf sounds good as something to be displayed on a wall

They won't if they wrap themselves up in a nice, warm scarf. Now, where could they get one of those from ................ ?
