In a way, I feel sorry for Phillips, as his career has nosedived, ever since those comments Pep made about his weight, when he returned to pre season one summer...

His confidence is at an all time low and only in 2021 at the Euros he was one of England's best players at the time.. he hasn't become a bad player overnight...

He looked like he was done in when he was taken off against Everton, so may have to get fitter to succeed in our system.. hopefully we can get a tune out of him this season

Really not saying I've been proved right. Just that I was very cautious about the signing at the time and that I've not seen much to suggest otherwise. It's obviously early days still but the concerns I had at the time are very much still there

Absolutely not writing him off and really hope he comes good. We all know what he's capable of and to have a confident Philips who is fit and firing could be the difference between staying up or being relegated

When people post "shot down by pretty much every one else" it's usually after they think they've been proved right!

It might, ultimately, not work... but it's still a signing to get excited about given the potential upside if it does work.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Wasn't overly fussed about Sheaf, would've loved to seen Pierre Ekwah though.

Sheaf every single time over Ekwah. No contest for me.
I know a lot of Sunderland fans very underwhelmed by Ekwah and quite a few were hoping he'd be sold. Sunderland have better.

Ah, you're one of those self appointed "grammar police", another unwanted by-product of social media.

I don’t disagree that they might be an unwanted byproduct, but I would say that the lack of understanding of basic grammar / punctuation / spelling promoted by social media users is a much greater concern than the springing up of a few self appointed police….

I still wish we'd pushed the boat out for Ben Sheaf.

Yes, he may have costed us £15m, but he was more of an investment - potential to impress at Prem level but an oven-ready top-level Championship player if we have to transition to the yo-yo club tag.

Think his injury shut that one off even if we were interested.

You expect better from the BBC... although I guess it is in the 'gossip' section, so it is what it is.

Gossip used to be an often truthful thing spread around by nosey neighbours - now, since social media, it can be anything someone just thought up in their head and then put out into the world. It could even be something maliciously started by a Norwich supporter for all we know!

It was on some random football news website, made some point he always gets subbed, so you can see how often theyve watched McKennas tactics, got picked up by some of the newspapers, the Beeb publish it because " premier league" all news is good news for them angle.

I don't see it as of importance. He played really well in his first few games. Struggled to make an impact last weekend, was playing far more defensively, but so did most of the team
Considering how much time we gave Williams to get upto to speed, I doubt we're thinking of doing anything.

This is the site it's all sources and speculation and nothing concrete https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-ipswich-could-terminate-kalvin-phil
