MOTD 22:53 - Oct 26 with 11194 views | cymroglas | Shearer wasn't very complimentary about us tonight. That graph of statistics wasn't good reading....but I suppose games are not played using graphs. Interesting that Theo Walcott attributed some of the blame on OShea for the last game. Don't know how stubborn McKenna is...but I'm desperate for Walton to start.

MOTD on 09:06 - Oct 27 by Cheltenham_Blue | Shearer et al don't give a sh it about us, they think we are a poor advert for the Premier League and if we are being honest, they generally think that about all promoted clubs that haven't Yo-Yo'd thanks to parachute payments. The vast majority of BBC and Sky 'pundits' believe that the trap door should be closed and there be no promotion to or relegation from the Premier League, as it weakens the 'brand'. The endless conversation about promoted clubs being instantly relegated tells you all you need to know, this is being set up for an end of season discussion on whether or not it is 'worth' having promotion from the Championship. Until we stay up, and then progress, like Brentford, this pattern of disparaging analysis will be repeated over and over and over. |
Where do you get this from? When have they ever said there should be no promotion or relegation? Seriously, some owners might believe this but not the pundits!

MOTD on 08:53 - Oct 27 by ElephantintheRoom | Go back forty years and Jimmy Hill would be saying the early season honeymoon is now over and the points won early are not reflected in the current state of play Throw in some trendy latter day stats to illustrate the obvious….. letting in 4 goals away is difficult to get points from and losing at home to duds is not a good sign either. The franchise are the worst team in the division on current form….. and the current trajectory is for that to get worse. But hey things can change quite quickly with three other duds and Leicester in the mix. |
It's a shame that Norwich didn't get up last season as we'd have had a guaranteed 6 points and only have to finish above two other football teams and also Norwich.

MOTD on 09:00 - Oct 27 by NthQldITFC | MOTD? Don't watch it. Haven't done for twenty years or so. Actually I did try it once this season - after Fulham game I think - and was amazed at how they could manage to get so little insight into an hour or whatever, how they could get so little value out of Lineker's salary, and what a load of old bollox most of them talk. On Muric (and O'Shea to an extent) I want to see him smiling and shouting or congratulating and engaging more with the defence. He looks too up tight and not enjoying himself at the moment. I know Vaz wasn't exactly an extrovert, but I think most good keepers need to express themselves and then they tend to make braver and more assertive decisions. He does make some excellent stops. It will take time to rebuild the L1 and Champ camaraderie - I hope KMc can do that, and I'm sure he has it in hand. |
I only watch MOTD when the full match replay is not available the next morning. So far it only happened against Man City and Brentford. I don't know what the rules are. I hated watching the Brentford match on MoTD, as I knew that being first meant that there was going to be another goal, and I wasn't expecting us to get another one after we went to 10 men.
MOTD on 16:27 - Oct 28 with 692 views | stonojnr | This is the guy who once said there are no easy games n the Premiership, except Ipswich at home, funnily enough we then went and beat them in the cup at their home. And he was a big influence on Sir Bobby being sacked by Newcastle imo. So I couldn't really give a 4x what he thinks of us.

MOTD on 00:14 - Oct 27 by itfc_statman | It was very lazy, but from a statistical analysis point of view we are currently the worst team in the league. whilst that's not the be-all-and-end-all (certainly, you could fairly argue we're not the worst based on the statistic known as "points won") it's of huge concern. As I said elsewhere, our xGD difference per 90 is -1.35 The worst team last season was Sheffield United with -1.01 and they finished rock bottom on 16 points. Thankfully I believe there's scope to improve but we need to quickly. |
Absolutely. Saying critical things about Shearer and MOTD may well be entirely valid and justified, but it really really doesn't change the facts about how we are doing. Yes, there was a lot to like about the Brentford match. I was there, I saw it, I get it. But despite playing well for certain periods and on certain measures, we still lost, and we still let in 4 goals. I really do think we need to start our analysis from the facts, rather than either cherry picking, or performing no analysis at all because we'd rather criticise the pundits. We need to shut them up by being good enough for the division. On the evidence thus far, we are not.
