Just looking at our fixtures and seen we're playing them on a Thursday night on TNT, we can't have played many league games on a Thursday before? The only one my old brain is remembering is losing to the Scum, was that a Thursday? Anymore Thursday games?

Home to Barnsley (I think) tail end of 90-91 season. 7k crowd, could hear the witches speedway such was the lack of crowd noise

Yeah, that and the Norwich match for Thursdays excluding Boxing Day. There were a number in the UEFA Cup.

Miriam Margolyes X1 v Pam Ferris X1 was played on a blustery Thursday evening in December 1968. It resulted in a 1-0 home win, with Trever Eve scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot 2 minutes from time. It was played on Debach United's ground.

Could have been so much different had Michael Horden not been flagged for offside.

I agree, and how about the controversial red card given to Wilf Lunn? OK, it was a badly timed challenge on Eileen Derbyshire but a red was harsh. Surely a yellow would have sufficed?

1st leg of the first Town performance in the playoffs v Charlton - 1987.

Second leg was on the Sunday morning at Selhurst.

Edit: Plus there would have been dozens of Boxing day and New years day matches on Thursdays over the decades.

Derbyshire bought that red. Did a sneaky wink to the touchline as Lunn left the field.

Ultimately that result cost Alan Cuthbertson his job.

Was Jack Hargreaves in goal for the MMs on that occasion?

She has a habit of doing that - she learnt that from Knox, the master tactician. It was indeed the result which cost Cuthbertson his job. We'll have to see how Richard Caldecot and Denis Lil manage the team now. Since departing from Dallinghoo Athletic in 2021 their record hasn't been great at Great Blakenham Town and Wixoe Reserves.

He was indeed, he took over from Ken Kitson.
