But if we have Hirst or a PL-level backup on the pitch for the last 20mins, we win that.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

His press looked really slow.

Was he asked to hold off a bit?

I expected him to be all over them when they had the ball.

I thought the same - was he focusing more on staying in the shape than charging around causing havoc (which we know he can do, as he did for the Southampton game last year)

He clearly wouldn't be here had we brought in another striker, but I think that is now the third Premier League game he has come on in, and in my view he has done pretty well in all three.

In some ways, he is a little bit like Delap in the sense that he is a bit of a disruptor, and today I thought he held the ball up well with very limited service.

I'm not quite with you on the Al~Hamadi is disruptive like Delap view but I don't think you deserve a down vote either. The usefulness of bringing on Ali was that the United defence knew he was there and that occupied them a bit, they didn't want to have their pants pulled down by a striker who was in League Two a year ago.

I hear you.
But if that’s the case just tell him to ‘play the final 10 like AAH would’

Barely run, mis control it, do nothing. Be a mini warm down for him

Realise you are looking for a reaction, but you might have noticed the q outside the medical centre at the moment - risking losing our most important player to an overuse injury (which he is given the alternatives) doesn’t feel like playing the long game - and is def not the sort of thing you would expect McKenna to do

The simple answer is - we should never have gone into a PL season with a L2 quality striker as our 3rd choice striker.

No we shouldn't have but thats not Ali fault so its a bit unfair in him to appear to be calling him out, especially as he is also coming back from a fairly long term injury

in an ideal world he may not be answer, but as things stand he is only answer we have

He’s absolutely fcking sht

Of all the good we’ve done it’s a stain that he is 3rd choice.

Yes I too feel that our achievements in the last two years have been devalued by the fact Ali Al-Hamadi is a squad option for us.

Sadly he's not quite up to it. He was pushing his ability in the Championship.

That said, he didn't do much wrong yesterday.

I think a loan spell in the championship would be great for him. I guess that woukd have been the plan had we had more fit strikers.

Sounds like we tried, and put in a fairly massive offer on deadline day for Latte Lath which didn't happen.

We failed but I don't think anybody wanted us to be in this position. Should be the first position we recruit for in January, even if just a loan.

Leicester bring Ayew off the bench. That's exactly what we need.

Yes, I was probably trying to say that there is an element of chaos, unorthodoxy and unpredictability about him which as you say does tie up those marking him, and if previous appearances are anything to go by can lead to him creating chances out of nothing.

And whilst we have struck gold with Delap in the sense that he scores a lot of goals, that under McKenna has not necessarily been the main aim of a No. 9.

He’s not being called out.
But not a single person, with a straight face, can say having him come on gives them hope. It’s like we give up the chance of winning with him coming on.

I’d rather Jackson or ladapo, that’s how poor AAH is.

I’ve seen a few ‘well he didn’t do anything wrong when he came on’ I mean come on ffs

He didn't cause any chaos. In fact he allowed utd to come further into their own half.

100% it's most likely coz he's injured. That's not his fault.

But let's not pretend he's doing more than he is

He was only on the pitch for 13 minutes but I was basing it on previous appearances. And I thought he did well when he received the ball yesterday but it was not his fault that Man Utd dominated possession in the second half. And one of our only two chances in the second half came when he was on the pitch.

When has AAH created a chance out of nothing?

To take an example, he came on with 10 minutes to go against Fulham, and this is from Phil's report.

As the game moved into five additional minutes, Al-Hamadi was thwarted as he sought to break down the middle, then was found on the left of the box from where he cut back to Clarke, whose shot was deflected behind for a corner.

Applauded coming on, encouraged when playing.

Aside from that I’m just pissed off we’ve left ourselves open to him being an option/squad player. L2 at best
