Premier League spending 08:04 - Dec 4 with 751 views | blueboyd | It is quite incredible the way football has been heading and will continue to. It has happened before with teams and with more spending than us but our squad had 100 million pounds spent on it over the summer, 100 million! - you don't get all that much quality on yesterday's showing for 100 million nowadays!
Premier League spending on 08:12 - Dec 4 with 714 views | Swansea_Blue | Not guaranteed quality with what’s probably a low wage structure for the PL. We still need to unearth some hidden gems, which isn’t easy when you’re looking for lots. I’d have liked to have seen what more of last year’s team would have done. Possibly no better, but players like Woolf, Burgess, Mass, Chappers etc., haven’t let us down before or when called in this year. There seems to be a bit of a lack of understanding at times.

Premier League spending on 08:14 - Dec 4 with 708 views | bournemouthblue | Burnley did the same and had a similarly disappointing season I think Forest went further and spent approaching £150 million to finish 17th but look at them now At the moment, that's what we are shooting for ourselves, where we have really lost out is that second striker and we are paying for it currently

We have a second striker - but he is injured. You mean third striker.

The restrictions KM placed on the profile of player he wanted really restricted the player pot. I get KM has a set way he wants his words taken and at pace without the issue of a language barrier, but we could and probably should have picked up 3/4 players from abroad that could have been purchased for a good price. Getting British based players to join a newly prem club is difficult, but there would be players desperate for a piece of prem football from abroad... That's the market you want to be in ontop of what we did.

The same thoughts have crossed my mind more than once this season. KMc always seemed to introduce new players slowly in the past two seasons, especially if they hadn't had a pre-season with us. The various components of how we play need to be learned and a clear understanding between players built up, which takes time. I guess there are many possible reasons for the differing approach this season, not least the jump in skills, but plainly the level of physicality/athleticism. Last night, Palace were a great example, together with the likes of Fulham, Villa, Everton this season. A typical EPL player has the technical skills etc, but also a greater athleticism. I think the purchases of Delap, O'Shea, Johnson and Cajuste fall into this category of player. We have some snappy little players, like Chappers and Morsy, but although they are/have been favourite players, I wouldn't exactly label them as athletic. Also, all managers tend to pick "their players" (players they brought in) and those that cost more, as a priority. That is normal. I would not go as far to say that Burgess should play over Greaves, or indeed in the other direction, that we need a Morsy replacement in January. KMc knows his onions, is diligent and hard working. If anyone can sort us out, he can. The nagging in the back of my mind is are we truly up to speed on recruitment? We are very UK focused, with only Cajuste being brought in from abroad. I understand the argument that it is easier to integrate English speakers with experience of the game here, but are we missing out on better quality players and greater value for money in foreign leagues? January will be interesting.
